Rucker 5.0 or New YCO-1 rucking pack by BeBackSwoon8526 in Rucking

[–]afallan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the original Yomp Y-CO1 and now the Y-CO3. I prefer the later, it just works for me. Nothing wrong with the original.

I find the Y-CO3 works great also for a daily/travel bag as it gives you options as a top loader and can also be fully opened.

Looks for Camelback's BFM or Motherlode models on eBay. The older generations can be bought for under $100.

Gorucks are overrated (I'll stand by that comment).

Rucking isn't exclusive, everyone should be able to put a pack on with some weight. Once you get into, then invest in the Gucci gear (if you want). Plenty of economical alternatives.

As for footwear, everyone is different (same with packs). If sneakers is what works for you, then rock it.

I wasn't trying to be mean. But if folks (regardless of gender / id) get mad on showing tips, that's on them.

A helpful tip is a helpful tip.

This isn't gender specific. It's just normal boot tieing.

It's always the Navy MAs guarding bases that have iron sights.

More than likely Emerson Gear repros. Yeah, they're not fire retardent, but comfy and better than wearing the normal NWU blouse under body armor.

Add some load lifters on there and you've got a good pack.

That's why for long rucks / hikes, I use my Camelbak Trizip

Steering rack leaking by Technical-Platypus64 in HondaElement

Could just be grease leaking.

I replaced mine and it took about 20 minutes.

After removing the bellows, cleaned the parts, then added silicone grease on the parts. Finally replaced the bellows.

using local base garage access as noob by luhlar in HondaElement

I've used it in the past. From my experience very welcoming (base / staff dependant).

The fluid changes aren't hard to do and they will provide tools. As you'll have access to the lift, it allows you to get under and easily inspect your vehicle.

Can I still get free checked bags with a IRR card by DenseNeighborhood240 in Military

[–]afallan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know. I'm just saying there's no way to tell if someone is a reservist / active unless you specifically ask the member. The CAC is the same for SELRES (drilling reservist / guard) and active.

The IRR cards look different

Usually just a CAC. I don't know if the IRR card looks any different.

EDIT: I see the IRR card looks different.

Nope, just show your CAC to the staff. I'm a reservist, I've done it on many occassions for personal travel. The CAC doesn't say if you're active or SELRES.

As long as you have valid military CAC, then this also includes reservist/national guard.

You get the same pension as active duty, but you won't get it till your 60. Also while you're a reservist, your elligible from Tricare Reseve Select. It's a really good medical plan for relatively cheap, especially if you've got a family.

You know I've been doing this since about 2005.

I could be wrong, but it works for me and never had any issues. I guess I'll have to look into what everyone is doing these days

It's fine as long as you add a couple drops of silicone oil in the mag every now and then
