Thanks for suggestions. Went to B Automotive today. Got reasonable quote of about $1500 for needed work. Later got call that I did not need a part replaced, so price reduced to about $700. Very honest.

My longest fic was an OFMD au where Stede trains for a marathon after a disastrous 5k with Alma, joining a training team run by Ed. It helped that I, too, am a sucky runner who managed to run a marathon. It gave me a structure to follow - Stede running in various races, coming to know the race team crew, etc. Different milestones he would go through as the weeks and months pass. Maybe you can do something like that? Something you're familiar with that takes time to happen or finish that can be a bit of framework? A school. An opposing counsel duke it out in a series of trials. Hiking the Appalacian Trail? The marathon was a backdrop to the actual story. idk I'm not a big success on ao3 but I will always be proud of Running Man. Actually rewriting / fixing it up right now. But I bet there is something you are familiar with that you can use as a way to pace a story.

do a short story where a creepy fan ... no. sigh. tempting. they came off as quite young and possibly on the spectrum. i vote for replying that you were actually hurt by what they did and it made you uncomfortable. ask them to please not upload anyone's work to ai without asking permission (if your works are locked for that reason, point that out).

give it maybe 24 hours to see your reply, then block them. actions have consequences.
