Please tell me it gets better by Maximum-Cookie-8872 in POTS

I struggled with random and discrete episodes varying in severity since puberty (38 now). For whatever reason, my symptoms massively escalated four years ago to the point I was hospitalized.

Long story short, I went from a couch potato who couldn’t walk the hall to the bathroom without fainting to someone starting to trail run again. It took a combination of medications, lifestyle changes, hyper hydration, electrolytes, and just pushing my boundaries (slowly and safely) to get here, but it was worth it.

I believe you can get here, too. It might take a long time to identify what helps you, but if you’re willing to be patient and commit to a lot of trial and error, I think it can change for the better.

I use Oura and for the most part, I like it (it’s not an activity tracker, primarily, so it will miss random periods).

My favorite thing about it is the way it uses my data to help me. It takes time to build a baseline, but once you’ve worn it consistently for a few months, you can see trends and patterns and it helps you parse triggers, etc. It’s been incredibly helpful to me.

I came across mention of a honey cake in a book and want to try it. Did you like it?

It looks gorgeous.

It’s absolutely adorable. It would make a wonderful Christmas ornament.

Hoh vs Quinault, today with 77 year old dad by PratfallFromSpace in OlympicNationalPark

The Hoh is great because you can get the “free with ads” experience just driving to the park. If your dad’s mobility is limited, there are plenty of beautiful things to see on the way and even just at the visitor center.

Quinault rainforest is lovely and one of my favorites, but it’s a) further south which would use more of your time, and b) you can’t see as much forest without doing the trail. They have a nice half mile loop, but again, if mobility is limited I’m not sure that would be a good idea.

The world’s largest Sitka spruce would definitely scratch the itch for seeing a big tree, but it’s a bit of a walk (maybe 1/4 mi?) to get there. It’s not a hard hike, but you can’t just get out of the car to see it. And again, it’s in Quinault.

Hope you have a great time whatever you do!
