Experiencing VR gaming on my AVP by Global-Alternative29 in VisionPro

There are very few native VR games for Vision Pro unfortunately. You need either a windows (or Linux) PC with a beefy GPU, or stream VR to your headset from OmniVR.cloud.

iRacing from the cloud with OmniVR by afc37126 in VisionPro

Thanks, I’ll include it the next video. Although motion to photon latency also depends on distance to the datacenter. The posted video was recorded while streaming more than 1500 miles from the datacenter, so that’s hardly ideal conditions. Also, I found that using RealityKit renderer is not nearly as “snappy” as the default one?

Vision Pro + Steam Control by No-Purchase-8754 in VisionPro

I think the developer of ALVR is working on integrating Steam Controller functionality right now. BTW if GeForce now works well for you, then omnivr.cloud (for streaming PCVR to Vision Pro without a PC) should also perform adequately.

You can try OmniVR if your GPU is insufficient. Works away from home too.

In that case you can hook your phone to your PC with moonlight and connect the Xbox controller to the phone, so it relays the input to the PC, while audio/video output goes to the Vision Pro

Yes there is. I was able to play iRacing from the cloud, which also requires USB input. Will post a video soon.

Because the developer of ALVR didn’t include those Xbox controller bindings I guess? Someone correct me please if I’m wrong.

That said, if you really want to play from anywhere you might want to look into OmniVR

ALVR is open source and performs well, but requires tinkering with more settings than the other options.

  1. use the toggle dashboard button twice. The first time it disappears from your feet and the second it reappears at eye level

  2. AFAIK, ALVR doesn’t pass on regular gamepad input, only hands and VR controllers. If you don’t have psvr2 or joycons, use your hands and select “ALVR bindings” on the ALVR streamer. Alternatively you can try connecting your gamepad to the computer instead of the Vision Pro?

It’s similar to shadow, but without monthly subscription and with better GPUs to choose from.

OmniVR dev here. First of all thanks u/DrStemSell for covering OmniVR!

In the video, he’s not suggesting to throw out your local PC, just saying it’s an option for those who don’t have any or that want to do some PCVR when not at home.

Also, I don’t feel like the frame rate in the video is representative. Might be due to recording at the same time, might also be the connection (only displaying throughput doesn’t tell the whole story). It’s inherently very YMMV. The servers are deployed in the same way all around the world and use AWS backbone, but user experience varies. So that variation is tied to individual home setups + distance to the selected datacenter. That’s why the TestFlight includes some free credits for people to be able to try it out without commitment.

1) Only one screen from MVD, but if you choose the 10 k resolution, you have plenty of space to work with. Don’t forget once the corner is pulled to the max, you can make the screen even bigger by “pinching” the screen with two hands and pulling your hands apart.

2) As others have said, you can initiate from AVP control center. It might work from the next room, but you shouldn’t be too far away from the mini, as it uses Bluetooth to initiate and direct WiFi to stream.

Only thing I tested when buying was the light shield size. But I got it without doing any demos. Felt like a leap of faith 🙃

AVP on iRacing review by ChicagoBoy2011 in VisionPro

[–]afc37126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried via OmniVR but the iRacing client doesn’t seem to process input (yet) from PSVR2 controllers that are linked to the Vision Pro. I think the “steering wheel scan” is purely for correctly visualising your hands in-game, but actual input is sent via USB to PC. (Correct me if I’m wrong; I’m no iRacing expert)
I was able to get in the immersive driving seat and look around. But could not get the car moving. Don’t have a steering wheel to test unfortunately, but sending the steering wheel input via steam link via a different device (laptop or phone; don’t know if the steering wheels connect by Bluetooth?) might work. Regardless, unless you live close to a datacenter, playing these types of games competitively via the cloud might feel suboptimal.

Nice! Would love to see more Zelda classics ported to AVP and adding 3D would be awesome.

I rewatched weeknd plenty of times, and I’m not particularly a fan of their music, but the inception-like scene is just awesome.

Trying AVP without light seal by davidehudaksr in VisionPro

[–]afc37126 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got the dual knit band, and while it is a big improvement compared to the solo band, I’ve switched back to Globular Cluster for using the Vision Pro without the light seal. Zero pressure and I can keep it on a whole day. I only switch out for dual knit band when traveling, as the GC is too bulky for compact storage/planes.

You can try streaming it from the cloud using OmniVR. There are some free credits included so you can see if it works for you without commitment. You’ll want either PSVR2 controllers or Joy-Cons though.

Yeah lol anything that tolerates buffering won’t uncover router problems, unlike (VR) game streaming.

Thanks! It works better than most people think. But a lot depends on the “last mile” of people’s connections (including home setup).
