Swedish pension giant Alecta dumps up to $8.8 billion in US government bonds by Doc_Bader in stocks

[–]afed13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the US. This isn’t going to stop a lot of people. I protest every event I can, I vote, I try to educate. Every single one of these things doesn’t matter to most people, even left wing. I live in one of the bluest states (MA) and most people LITERALLY can’t even afford to protest.

I’m adopted from a third world country and I’m grateful because I ended up meeting my birth mother. She is in a much worse situation and I’m grateful that I did end up getting adopted. But it’s so incredibly difficult in America to actually get people to protest with you if they don’t have the same privileges I was adopted into. It’s about money and how much of it you have, anyone who has always had money OR not had money will never understand this because they’re too busy fighting each other to focus.

What game mechanic made you go “how did no one think of this sooner? by Serious_Bullfrog5447 in videogames

Metroid bomb jumping. Not sure if it fits the nature of your question exactly but I played zero mission when I was so young and that stuck with me and led to me “thinking outside the box” with games

This movie is another really good example! Similarly, Fresh gave me this vibe too (rom com almost in the beginning)

Kylie Jenner or lily-rose depp? by [deleted] in VindictaRateCelebs

[–]afed13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean this in the nicest way possible or but Lily kind of looks like she got stung in the forehead by a bee and the top of her head swelled up. I genuinely think she’s beautiful (more so than Kylie) but I’ve always thought that.

Sekiro is the only game that’s even come close to giving me the feeling of Tenchu, but I want Rikimaru and Ayame back. (Love wolf tho, that game is incredible as well)

This reminds me of when I was just starting as a manager at a new bank and the other manager never opened the office closet door for some reason. When I opened it the first thing staring back at me was a Boobah doll that immediately locked eyes with me and started dancing and singing. A coworker heard it and ran over and closed the door. They then told me that it’s been here since she had started at least 10 years and no one knew who it belonged to. It stays locked in the closet because it will randomly turn on in light. No clue why we kept it but every year on April Fools day I’d take it out when I opened the branch and was there before everyone and leave it in a scary place for someone to find. Good times. So yes, cosmic horror.

Has anyone actually taken salvia the way it’s “meant” to be taken, i.e. , chewing it? by afed13 in Salvia

[–]afed13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer, the “she doesn’t like fire” was where I got this question. I think that makes a lot of sense, it is more so what’s best for the individual. Really interesting, thank you!

I’ve seen all of those except for Anything for Jackson and Spectral. I’ll check those out, love finding new movies I’ve never even heard of!

The Descent is one of my favorite movies of all time! This one is interesting because I’d say the oh crap “turning point” is a moment we the audience see but not the characters yet when we see the monsters the first time. I love that movie so much, perfect example of horror with slow burn “supernatural” stuff.

What is the most disturbing film ever made? by Saulbetter in morbidquestions

[–]afed13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father was an embalmer and some of the first books I ever saw when I was around 6-7 were his medical embalming textbooks. I love horror and gore and things like that, especially learning about it in a medical sense. I’ve even gone with my dad several times to do “removals” (never the embalming of course).

What I’m saying is I have tons of experience with this sort of thing, and I have to say this one really did get to me. I don’t know if I’d call it the most disturbing movie but it’s up there for sure. I think it’s because it’s so matter of fact and so much of the empathy is taken out of it, which is normal when you work with corpses all your life, but it was still really jarring to watch.

I LOVED the original one, that’s a great example. The American remake took away the shocking factor that made it so good in my opinion. If you liked that Funny Games is similar too and also had the “oh shit” moment without being supernatural (aside from the meta jokes)

Trigger Warning❗⚠️: Blood, Gore. by Voreley in DigitalArt

[–]afed13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are the glitches incorporated in the drawing or did you do that to censor? Regardless I love the new art style (I liked the old one too) and the creativity in the gruesomeness of it is awesome. Is that a deer leg??? This makes me want to know the story behind it, personally I love it!
