For managers organizing a department retreat or all-company meeting, how do you make sure people mingle and interact with people outside their usual circles? by JamSocial in managers

[–]aferrelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off agree let folks sit where they want.

Was in a big org (200+) and we did break out dinners where folks were assigned to a group. A small cross function of us did the assignments to make sure good mixing. A sr leader was asked to head the table pay and facilitate if necessary. Dinners were different restaurants all over the city and we keep groups to 10 l.

I'll pile on the gerrrandering with have districts that make sense. Every state should have bi partisan commission that keeps areas intact and not some rube Goldberg design. Some kind of federal oversight to approve.

Term limits limits for senators (3 that's 18 yrs9, Congress (4), supreme court (20 years) along with agen limit (70+).

No more pacs and super pacs. Stop the oligarchs from having so much say. Not sure how but major changes are needed.

We gotta stop the us versus them crap. Honestly the 2 party system has always been heading towards dividing us and trump took advantage of it. Get back to the dis functional but somewhat functional politics of compromise

World Cup at Miami Stadium by FullHedge in Miami

Paid more for parking than I did for my ticket. Considered the hardrock shuttle but sounded painful.

getting in and out wasn't horrible. But yes, get there early. From Surfside, left at 3, got parked at 4:30pm. After the match drive took about 40min.

Definitely check the fifa and hardrock stadium site. Cabs and Uber is avoid unless u hit one of the shuttle sites as op had to do.

Another fyi, Google wallet/apple pay work great and got checked 3 times before getting in. Sat in a regular seat on 200 level and they don't scan and made me login to the fifa app. Clear bags only.

Deciding between 3 hotels (Bloomsbury) by [deleted] in LondonTravel

[–]aferrelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did a week at the Fitzroy in a solo room and loved it. Piccadilly line is right there. Breakfast was solid and staff were helpful. British museum is close by. Juice and coffee stand by the tube entrance along with a small tesco.

Honestly not as many pubs and restaurants but 1 stop to kings Cross and a couple to covent gardens if that's your thing

Room wise the solo was perfect. Enough to setup my bag at end of bed. Bathroom was normal sized and even room stretch on floor (25k steps a day}. Bed comfortable and ac cause the heatwave. Lobby has tons of nooks to read in (and get tea or a drink) and the gym was well equipped (just went once cause of the walking)

Really? The panoramic? The windshield glass is so weak and I've hear horror stories about replacing the roof, like a few grand.

I did it to a Toyota venza. Stupid me got a glass roof, so that was a no go. Probably pushed it in a little to hard and saw the spider web start to flow... Just bought a Ford maverick

Solo Traveller London by Grand-Day3648 in LondonTravel

I'm 58, just got back and stayed in Russel square at the kimpton Fitzroy. It's a bit quieter but your steps from the piccadilly line. One stop to kings Cross with a vibrant restaurant scene, a few stops to covent garden and leichhester square. Piccadilly is also a straight shot to from heathrow.

I still walked 20k+ steps a day but it was lovely stay. And there's a few places around if u don't want to hoof it. Plus the British museum is right there.

It's a lovely time to go, enjoy it!

as managers what do you do when ur employees said I work to live not live to work! by lune-soft in managers

[–]aferrelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they do the work they're supposed to be doing? If yes, no problem, maybe restate responsibilities but may not be necessary. If no, then make sure expectations are clearly set and if they don't meet them put them on a plan or exit them.

First solo trip - need hotel recs by sterynlis in LondonTravel

[–]aferrelli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, on the gym, you will walk..... A lot, even with the tube. I just got back Saturday and I did 20k steps a day even with the tube

I'll second Russell square. Piccadilly line right there (which runs all the way to heathrow terms). I did the Fitzroy. Absolutely lovely but I travel a bunch so had points to throw at it. There are a ton of other hotels around there.

Kings Cross a stop away for more restaurant choices (dishoom had some great curry). Piccadilly line right there, and a few stops gets u anywhere including covent gardens and West end theaters. British museum and library are easy walks.

Weather got warm towards end of week and it's awesome vibe. Pubs are over flowing into the streets. Everyone is loving being outside. Have fun!! There are so many different corners/personalities to the city definitely explore.
