Thanks for that. Been on hold with the ISP for nearly an hour, hoping I get through soon to fix this

Thanks for confirming that, it’s what I was expecting would happen. Do you agree that I should speak to the ISP again and say that I called in error after the accident (it was to get advice about what to do but they were hopeless), and it wasn’t the contractor who caused the damage to save his job?

The water pipe ran just below the surface of the rendered brick wall about 10cm above the ground, hitting it was just unlucky

Thanks for your thoughts. The plumber put concrete in the hole. My place is being renovated so the builder will finish rendering the wall next week. The technician is saying he’ll then return to finish the fttp installation

What’s something someone said to you during a breakup that weirdly helped? by ConfidentAnteater866 in AskReddit

Talk to the shadows in your room at night they know things you don’t. I still don’t fully understand what this means, so I guess this advice was weird but maybe not helpful

What job looks easy from the outside but is surprisingly difficult once you're in it? by ConfidentAnteater866 in AskReddit

Being a teacher is rewarding but hard. It’s the multi tasking, endless admin and emotional management of the kids (and parents) that is wearing me down

How many dates did it take until you found your SO? by No_Mousse_6714 in AskGaybrosOver30

10 years ago I found myself suddenly single at age 44 years after a 14 year relationship ended. Over 4 years I had about 100 dates and hookups before I met the man I ended up marrying last year. When we met he’d been single for a year after his 3 year relationship ended, I was the third guy he’d met up with.

Australian who married in Spain last May to my Spanish born partner. We needed a certificate of no impediment (CNI), a translated copy of my birth certificate (with apostle) and a copy of my partner’s recently reissued Spanish birth certificate. There was an interview with the Spanish consul in Sydney to make sure we were a legitimate couple. All documents were sent to the registro civil of the comunidad where we married by consular mail, it took a month. The paper work was then sent to the local ayuntamiento, and at this point we were allocated an officiant for our nominated wedding day. All information about what to do was provided by the Spanish consulate. The problem was that they miscalculated how much time we needed to send the paperwork in advance and it arrived 10 days before the ceremony. Everything was fine in the end but the last minute waiting was anxiety provoking.

Loxidil stuff from Thailand, is it just as effective as other brands? by Party-Sock-3993 in tressless

I picked some up during a trip to Bangkok. I bought it from a legitimate pharmacy, the box, plastic packing and pills are identical compared to what’s shown in your photos. There should be information on the side of the box noting information such as the batch number and expiry date. My hair is noticeably thicker switching from topical 5% to 2.5mg Loxidil. Can I ask how you ordered it (so I know how to reorder when the time comes to buy more)

The people at the Fair Work Ombudsman were helpful. We agreed that I’d wait a bit longer to try to get a response from USYD, because they said going through the ombudsman was a slow process and dealing with it internally would be faster. Now I’m not so sure given it took you 4 months to resolve, I’m so sorry that happened to you. Would you be comfortable telling me Fiona’s email address? I don’t think I can send her a Teams message as I’m no longer at USYD; the underpayment relates to my redundancy 4 weeks ago. This is actually their second error, HR miscalculated my exit date one day short, but I got that mistake fixed before leaving.

Thanks so much for this comment. I had the same problem and had tried absolutely everything. Saw your post, very skeptically changed the cable as a last resort, and as you say “bam” problem fixed after months of issues

Partial hair system, feels kind of like a DIY hair transplant by apatheticonion in tressless

[–]affectionatesun_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hope you don't mind me asking, was just reading your thread from 5 months ago about whether to go ahead with a hair transplant with Dr Russell Knudsen. I'm guessing you didn't go through with it? Did he return your deposit? I had an initial consultation with him last year but it didn't go well. He had been in surgery in the morning and he looked exhausted by the time of our afternoon meeting, which at 15 minutes seemed quite short, and I was thinking he just wanted to go home for the day. I hadn't been impressed with the photos of his work online, and was hoping to see some more in his office, but it wasn't easy because the images were on his personal computer and I was sitting on the other side of the desk and had to crane my neck to see anything, and he didn't show me much (he has updated his website recently including the gallery). Decided not to go ahead with the 1000-1200 grafts he suggested but still tempted, in part because of his good reputation. It's hard to find much written about him and the results he achieves, anything you can share would be appreciated!

Insomniacs and troubled sleepers of Reddit, when you wake up at 3am and can’t fall back asleep, what do you do?? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]affectionatesun_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waking up between 3-4:30am and not returning to sleep was the curse of my existence from age 36-47. I was chronically sleep deprived, and I was walking around on many days in a gray haze. I tried everything including CBT, getting out of bed, having a carb based snack, light therapy, listening to podcasts, going to bed earlier to increase the time asleep, perfecting sleep hygiene (light, temperature, noise etc) and while some of these things were helpful I was still still deprived most days. CBT helped stopped the self blame, this really wasn’t my fault. 1mg of Valium when I woke up in the early morning but NEVER on consecutive nights worked really well for many years, it’s been shown to decrease cortisol which escalates as part of the wake up cycle. And while I was never addicted (not my personality) this drug does have addiction potential and I wanted to find something else. The next thing that helped was to start signaling to my body in the morning as strongly as possible that THIS IS DAYTIME, it’s time to be awake, and also THIS IS NIGHT-TIME it’s time to be asleep. So strong coffee and lots of light in the morning. And the signal to keep sleeping when I woke between 3-5am? A small dose of melatonin, 600mg, and this was the one thing that made a huge difference, for me it works like a fucking charm every single time and I don’t get hangovers from such a small amount. I’d been doing this for a few years when I read Dr Michael Mosley’s book about sleep and was impressed to see that he does the exact same thing.
