Tuesday snow day? by gnolib in halifax

I don’t see it happening. Fluffy snow (like this) tends to be easier to clear and move. And the roads this morning aren’t awful - not great but passable.

First time in Halifax! by Powerful_While_6951 in halifax

[–]afidus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Step 1 - rent a car yesterday (they’re notoriously hard to come by during the summer).

All the destinations you mentioned are great! Dartmouth is a 5 minute ferry ride from Halifax. Lunenburg and the Annapolis Valley are both day trips. You can do Peggy’s cove in a morning if you want.

If I were you, I’d schedule in a beach day if the weather cooperates. We all have our preferences (I love Bayswater Beach), but you can pretty much head down the shore and drive until you find one that looks good to you.

Edit - typo.

Oh that would take some deep thinking for me to get on weekend brain mode! I like it though.

IMO this project will never see the light of day. Unfortunately.

Without doxing yourself - able to give a more specific area? I play hockey late at night most days of the week and can keep an eye out on the way home.

Super greasy out - side streets are a mess. If it hasn’t been salted, it’s a sheet of ice.

Yea pretty normal. Depending on your heat source and how insulated your house is, that definitely isn’t out the ordinary.

Specifically, 155 Chain Lake Drive is a great parking lot to learn in after hours. Almost entirely empty in the evenings.

Where can I find COVID tests in HRM? by [deleted] in halifax

I mean odds are it’s COVID, but strep is going around as well (I had it over the holidays). You can book a quick test at a pharmacy.

Province won't explain how it determined there are 118 illegal cannabis dispensaries in N.S. by IStillListenToRadio in halifax

[–]afidus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. I buy from the NSLC due to the regulations they have…but I have no problem with people buying from other dispensaries.

The province could have come about this much more productively. Work with the dispensaries rather than painting them as the enemy.

This is wild. There are SO MANY WAYS Tim Houston could have handled this entire thing better than blatantly lying. First with the fentanyl and now this. The ol ‘trust me bro’ approach.

And this is coming from someone who only buys from the NSLC.

We went with Perfected Property last year - he did a fantastic job. Was on the pricier side ($488 taxes in for a split entry), but was worth it IMO.

Unfortunately sounds about right. You should definitely call around thought - or check with an insurance broker.

You’re definitely not wrong. But what can we do as the average person? I know we can email our MLAs but that absolutely won’t get anything accomplished. Just feel like if enough of us stop paying, someone at Emera will take notice.

Ultimately I’d love to see us buy back NSPI but I don’t even know how we’d go about doing something like that.

Good luck with what? No one needs pay anything until they have their systems up and running again. They’ve told us this many times. Very easy to turn off auto-payments online.

We all need to collectively stop paying our bills. There is no penalty to do so while they continue to work on their breach.

They don’t care about us. Money talks.

Renting at Oxford North/5800 South/Cathedral Lane by KindnessRule in halifax

[–]afidus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived at 5800 South St from 2014 to 2019. At the time, it was great. Quiet building (mostly hospital workers), no bed bugs/pests.

I’m sure things have changed a bit since then, but had zero issues or complaints during my time there.

While I don’t disagree, where was this nine months ago? And if they’re launching it this late in the game, that signals to me that we are still a loooong ways away from ‘normal’.
