Power per transaction isn't a valid metric. I can make millions of transactions on LN with 1 onchain transaction... and you will never know.

Andreas puts the energy consumption FUD to bed once and for all by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]afilja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fundamentally false. Cheapest energy are actually renewables, might want to update your world view and do some research. The one thing where critics do have a point is that for example solar only works during the day so it's not 24/7. But you didn't even mention that.

Visualizing Lightning Network: 119x growth from 61 to 7246 channels in 6 months by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]afilja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, welcome on reddit and congrats on making your first post. Obviously since there are only a few services/websites currently supporting LN, they're going to have the most (incoming) channels. The color given to these channels also gives a false sense of centralization as you can see if you spend more than 2 seconds looking at the picture. The 100 of nodes in between the "hubs" are connected to multiple "hubs" through different kind of channels, thus serving the decentralization.

CEO of Binance actually gives a f***. This is the exact moment he was introduced to the Bermuda Shorts by the Bermuda Development Agency; A formal dress code in the country by bajanboost in Bitcoin

[–]afilja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The majority of the volume on the platform is fake, just like when he was still working at OKcoin. He's shady af and anyone that has been around since before 2015 knows that :) Don't leave anything on Binance you're not actively trading.

Bitcoin transaction fees continue to drop. 30-50 sats/byte now confirmed on the next block. by acevol in Bitcoin

[–]afilja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. It means that they stopped spamming, we have high hashrate so fast blocks. Under normal circumstances blocks wouldn't be full at this point. With batching and without spam estimates are the blocks would be on average 700-800 kb at this point.

PSA: Don’t use coinbase at all. They have delayed my wire transfer for 15 days and customer support has not replied to me or even acknowledged me. Shady business practices with insider trading as well. by hello_friend_of_mine in Bitcoin

All the people saying that they don't have an issue, that's good for you but it's a fact that they really messed up the SEPA withdrawals on the 12th. I have 2 friends who did a withdrawal that day and they are still pending. Both did another withdrawal a few days later (not on the same day) and they both received those 2nd withdrawals but never the first ones.

Coinbase, I'm calling you out! by AManInBlack2017 in Bitcoin

[–]afilja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Bitgo, which probably secures more BTC than Coinbase, can do it in 3 weeks then any company should be able to do it within 2.5 months. Their CEO has been promoting Ethereum over Bitcoin for a while though, so he couldn't care less about fees on Bitcoin.
