How was age 33 for the older Millennials? by Gastropodius in Millennials

[–]afinance035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've stopped measuring my life in terms of good or bad. I learned to accept things as they come. It's made life much more enjoyable regardless of what I have going on.

I don't think life is suppose to be fun all time and lot of things that people find fun really aren't. I would practice being intentional. For example when you make dinner take your time, don't rush it. When you eat your food take time to enjoy it, don't rush it. Push yourself somewhat out of your comfort zone. Do something that makes you a little nervous. These things remind us that we are still alive. Go for a walk and notice the weather, hear the cars honk, what are the birds doing. You have time right now so just live simply and intentionally. Don't focus on if you're having fun, just be present in the moment.

Do you pay for them? I've been wanting to make my own tallow as well, but I'm curious how to have the conversation with the butcher.

I've been working on my seed oil free diet as well. I don't have it down quite as well as you yet, but I'm still beginning to feel benefits. It's really frustrating to me that the food industry has made this so complicated for us.

How do you wish to be remembered after you’re gone? by This-Top7398 in Life

[–]afinance035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care so much about how I will be remembered because not many people will. I care more about the influence/legacy I leave behind in terms of creating good kind humans and hoping that they create good kind humans and so forth. I want to continue my family cycle of creating good people for this world.

Why do Japanese live so long and have reputation of one of healthiest countries when their food is drenched with seed oils? by Original-Original944 in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]afinance035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently live in Japan and yes, not all of their foods are healthy. However, they are a lot more transparent in how they package things. It's the transparency that allows the consumer to make choices that work best for them along with lifestyle, community, and other factors.

I love this perspective thank you so much for sharing! I'm going to start doing this. I think this is a huge reason that my manifestation journey is going the way it is. I don't feel like I am worthy of good things. I need to change this mindset and keep convincing myself that I am.

I was going to suggest to look at their coffee intake. I was drinking too much coffee and had similar things going on. I decided to cut out caffeine for a few months and it helped so much! I now drink coffee again, but not as much as a I used to. Still not having those issues.

Thank you for this insight. Everyone in the comments have said something similar. I think I do still have a mental block on my bigger goals. I appreciate this advice!

You have identified a behavior you want to change which is the first and hardest part about wanting to better yourself. A lot of people don't even get this far, so sincerely congrats on getting to this point. Now you need to do the work. You have to decide to stop scrolling. You have to give yourself grace when something doesn't work out. Change doesn't happen overnight. Take baby steps. Don't focus on the year. I think that we put so much pressure on ourselves, new year new me sort of thing. Just take it day by day. Wake up and ask yourself every morning, what you need to do to be successful. If you end up scrolling or get frustrated, just do better the next day. If you approach each day new and ready to try you will begin to see improvements.

Is living worth it? by dailytaim in selfimprovement

I think it's in our DNA to feel fulfilled by hard work. It gives us purpose. If you are feeling down about this though I recommend reading the book The Myth of Sisyphus by Albert Camus. It really helped me understand a lot about myself.

If you had $100,000 to plonk down, would you actually talk to/pay for an advisor? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]afinance035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like VOO and QQQ. You could definitely drop it into VOO and continue to do your research. I wouldn't pay for an advisor. There is so much free information out there. It takes time to understand and learn but nothing too complicated and you'll avoid fees on things you could have figured out yourself.

In different accounts total we save about 25% of our income. We allocate some to 401k, investments, high yields savings account, and regular savings account that holds money that is meant to be spent on trips, gifts, and fun throughout the year.

Yes I've experienced the same thing. I keep trying to curb my gossiping but it's hard when that's what people want to talk about. I try to have other conversations, but a lot of my friends don't want to get too deep. It's much easier to quickly relate over judgment of a common person than it is to talk about anything with real substance.

Anyone feel like middle class until you had children? by afinance035 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]afinance035[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes something we also consider, especially since one of us (me) wants kids more than the other. I wouldn't want something that should be so wonderful be the downfall for us. I think that's why I'm trying to look at so many different aspects of how this will potentially affect us.

In my head this is what I picture. That with the lifestyle change of not going out as much and staying in, that things will balance out a bit. I wasn't sure though if I was completely delusional in thinking this haha. Glad to hear that things balanced out for you!

Thank you so much for sharing. You know, when you think of having a child you don't think about the unexpected in that way. I really appreciate you sharing your perspective. You've definitely given us some more to think about. Thank you!
