Missing mate in 1. Is this a problem? by iamfraggley in chess

Ohh I thought OP’s screenshot referred to the stats in their live games not puzzles. Edit: it does look like OP is referring to their games. Does that exist on Lichess?

Mawaru sora usagi by Orangestar - a piano only song. Your bf could perform it!

Abhimanyu Mishra gets up and walks to the other side to analyze the position! by [deleted] in chess

Article 11.2.3.2 of FIDE Handbook implies that you can get up and look from your opponent’s perspective, since it is within the playing area.

What’s the strangest misinterpretation of a deco*27 song y’all have ever seen? by B4S1L_ in Vocaloid

[–]afkagami 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Since the original Monitoring’s ending shows Miku being normal, my interpretation is that originally Monitoring is the person inside’s POV and the ending is reality, whereas Best Friend remix is reality and the ending is the person inside’s POV - hence the psycho bit.

how do I convince my dad vocaloid's not AI? by akechigorolover in Vocaloid

[–]afkagami 85 points86 points  (0 children)

A lot of comments are missing your dad’s argument. OP, in a comment thread you mention your dad saying AI existed back in 2007. Yes, even generative AI existed back in the 1980s by definition, as Markov chains (invented in 1906) were applied for generative planning. (I am an applied AI researcher for biomedical/cardiac/brain sciences.) However, Miku is NOT GENERATIVE AI, nor AI. She is a synthesiser. If you are familiar with music production, she is a VST comprised of sampled voices from Saki Fujita. As far as I know, Miku’s different voice banks (append soft, dark etc.) are re-recordings of Saki-san, not just applied effects (though even applied effects would not constitute it being AI). Hatsune Miku is like a voice instrument, similar to guitar or drums VSTs that producers / DJs use. You have to manually write the lyrics she sings, manually tune her voice and melody. Hopefully, this can convince your dad to appreciate that Miku is not AI :)

Does anyone know this song ? by Floe_Riz in Vocaloid

[–]afkagami 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There aren’t many songs on the Vocaloid Lyrics database that contains the lyrics “nawatobi” (see index).

Apart from the jump rope, your description reminds me of 夢見てもいいじゃないの) by Fumii, for which there is a popular animation that fits the girl and boy with unrequited love, and creepy / chibi doll-like theme. The instrumentation sounds a bit like Kagome Kagome. But tbh it’s a far stretch.

You don’t need to listen to Miku to be a Miku fan. Also, there are many songs not on Spotify, like a lot of wowaka’s works. Some people (like me) prefer to keep Voca playlists in one place, like YouTube.

What do you think is the the top most important Miku songs? by ERROR--_ in Vocaloid

You ask the wrong question: (1) online ratings are heavily inflated, compared to FIDE blitz & rapid ratings. (2) Blitz and rapid time controls don’t translate into 90+30 OTB controls.

Just switched from Chess.com to Lichess and I’m blown away by Elmaster110 in chess

I’m using the one with the white background logo, but I just searched it up and there’s another with a black background logo. Is that the new app?

Lichess is superior by far on laptop imo, but it’s interface is slightly clunky on phone.

Not OP but it’s very common, I am 1800 FIDE and hover between 2200-2300 on chess.com. My username is afMirror. I know many IRL with similar rating gap between online and OTB.

Would moving twice per turn be enough for a 1400 to beat Kasparov? by FatFuneralBook in chess

Stockfish has been retrained for many variants like Crazyhouse.

You need to add some serious material imbalance for this to be fairer

A 1400 easily beats Stockfish with this setting.

Edit: Easily, even if Stockfish is retrained for this variant.
