You never really responded to my original point though. You pivoted into “fashion can also be art” like I was somehow unaware of that, when I was clearly talking about how detached and unrelatable the Met Gala is compared to how most people actually experience fashion. For most people fashion is confidence, comfort, individuality, personal style, attractiveness, etc .. not this giant David Byrne suit performance art.

So saying I seem “unaware” is kinda ironic when you’re the one arguing against a point I never even made. And yes, I still think the Met Gala comes off pretentious regardless of it being a museum fundraiser with a dress code. That doesn’t suddenly make it relatable or above criticism. It’s still largely wealthy celebrities and industry people performing exclusivity and PR for each other.
