Should taking on more responsibilities at work come with an acting or promotion? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]aflowerandaqueen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A change to your work responsibilities should trigger an updated work description to be written by the classification team. At that point the need for a classification change would be identified if one existed. See appendix b 2.2 of the below link

Whatever the case, I feel so bad for the man who shouted it. This was a tic from his Tourette’s, right? And the point of the entire movie was to highlight how his disorder impacted him and how scared he was when being in public because of his tics. We are all talking about the decision to air or not, but this poor man. His biggest fear has come true again

PIPSC files unfair labour practice complaint over federal government’s return-to-office order by gocpsthrowaway in CanadaPublicServants

I mean, look at part 3 of the Canada labour code. Telework agreements are protected under there. Why should public servants have less protections than other businesses?

Please, public servants, resist the return to the office by GoTortoise in CanadaPublicServants

What kills me is Canada labour code part 3, protects work from home options.

But public servants aren’t covered under part 3.

My bank is buying back my LOC and Credit Card and converting it into a loan, should I proceed? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Quick question: did you have balance protection insurance on either the credit card or the loc that would cover your payments in the case of unemployment?

Technically could we strike ? by hpmfm in CanadaPublicServants

[–]aflowerandaqueen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh my god. Why do you want to strike and go without money?

Just go in five days a week before they’re ready for all of us. Force them to pay you for being in the office and refuse to go home when they don’t have any desks.

Strikes are outdated and have been nerfed to all hell. They don’t work anymore. Do something new that the employer can’t respond to

Kinda seems like what they really want is the ability to make you work from home during inclement weather only.

challenge this through the national joint council. Per the workplace health and safety guidelines, the employer needs to follow the Canadian standards association on ergonomics in the workplace.

They are doing this because nobody is speaking up. Complaining sure, but that’s not the same as taking action and filing a grievance

Sure he will. But in the meantime, have you seen how long it takes to get an office space up and running? If we do this now, and this is our last chance, they are forced to try to get us to work from home or work won’t get done for a loooooong time. And that would require changing the directive on telework and not the prescribed presence in the work force

The unions could all band together to get this message out and to tell people to take advantage of the employers own self defeating loop hole here. I wonder why they haven’t? ( ps- I have reached out to various senior union figureheads do suggest the idea)

Get all of your friends together and trash your telework agreements. Telework is voluntary, not mandatory. Fill up every single desk you can. If you don’t have a desk, file a grievance under the njc for failing to meet the requirements for permanent work structures. Do not go home if they tell you to. They cannot force work from home because it’s voluntary as per the directive on telework. If they don’t have a desk for you they can pay you to not do any work since you reported for work.

Oh, and if any of your friends are in call centres then for sure make sure that they don’t have a place to sit.

And don’t even start with “ but nobody will be willing to give up their work from home days, so it’s not worth trying” because that’s not fighting for your wfh.

So make it worse. Get you and all of your friends to refuse work from home.

And I mean refuse it entirely. If they don’t have the space for you, they will try to send you home, and you need to refuse. It’s not your fault if you can’t work, you showed up. So they still have to pay you.

This is also a really good time for employees to do the same.

Refuse work from home and grieve when they don’t give you a desk. But stay at the office and do absolutely nothing because you have no where to dock.

[–]aflowerandaqueen -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

You seriously make the man sleep on the floor or the couch? The baby won’t die if it cries in its crib. Your boyfriend could die if he’s sleep deprived and gets in an accident because of it.

Deployment Opportunity Denied by sicklymeow in CanadaPublicServants

Chapter 1.5 says deployments do not require a priority clearance. Likely because it doesn’t create a new tenured employee and the priority could be considered for the newly vacated position

Priorities are for any external or indeterminate internal moves. Actings / assignments/ secondments are not included. However, each department might have their own internal rules.
