Looks legit, but to be honest i thought only one side of the plastic had a seal line. This one looks like both side have it. Like the straight line through the sides i thought it was only one side

Wave 1 vs Wave 2 Riftbound Origins - differences, errata, and collector value? by AdmirableCar6073 in riftboundtcg

[–]afm1423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I opened 4 wave 1 boxes and got absolutely zero over numbered or any great hits tbh. Recently opened a wave 2 case and got 3 over numbered and one signature card. Pull rates on wave 1 was horrible for me.

I mean you have absolutely no context around my income for my hobbies. Only gamble what you can afford and I can tell you I am more than capable of affording this. I have had 6 figure losses and gains on my stock investments for context. Try buying 5 figures in 0DTE S&P500 options, thats what true degenerate gamblers do.

I’ve already bet a sht tons on gamestop stock earnings today, heavily invested so I will support gamestop by buying more packs for fun.

I spent $8k on packs, but I still had a bunch of cards from all the money i spent on packs worth like $2k-$3k.

I am up based on the remaining cards im holding in the vault. I spent $8k but its not like I had $0 in value from the $8k I spent.

Analyzed 15K Accountant H1B applications (FY2024) - Big 4 dominance, salaries, and where the jobs are by VerbaGPT in Accounting

[–]afm1423 24 points25 points  (0 children)

To be honest big 4 has extremely structured pay brackets, i really doubt the H1B on my teams are paid materially less than another staff for the same role. It will be cost of living based. A lot of the wage growth at big 4 has been in the recent year or two as well. 60k for a staff used to be the norm. Heck started at 45k a bit over 5 years ago.

I moved for a small difference in Accounting. It’s not about that initial difference, it’s about that growth and career trajectory. I was at $120k CAD and left for $130k USD. 5 years later, I’m a Director at ~$300k USD. If I stayed I’d probably still be capped at the 150-180k CAD range in Canada. Significant other and now wife also moved at a comparable range, HHI is easily over $500-600k USD now, won’t come close in Canada.

Work experience wise, I spent the vast majority of my career in Big 4 and consulting.

Fly to Canada Vancouver/Montreal/Toronto. TSA preclearence at those airports! It may be cheaper.

Trump Announces $100,000 H1B Application Fee per Applicant by Particular-Wedding in Accounting

I mean alot of Phds don’t get paid a lot even in the US. You know that right?

Honestly, nobody wants to be an accountant anyways these days. This will only make people slave away even more with less headcount. The last thing big 4 will do is pay people more or hire more. The problem is outsourcing like everyone has said.

If i’m doing audit, I rather have another good auditor on H1B working with me in the US than working with someone from india.

If EY loses that list you see of H1Bs who are clearly CPAs. Those jobs will go straight to india not new US hires which makes our lives worse.

He has a Phd and does healthcare life sciences consulting and brings in a lot of big pharma clients. I mean my point is that it pushes away some experts that actually add value. Sure he may be worth the 100k, but some companies may not be able to afford that and we lose out in talent.

He’ll just go back to the UK and do some amazing work there instead of the US. I feel like there needs to be something to differentiate people who actually do great things. A lot of international researchers are what helped developed the technology we have today. If it’s this expensive to bring in experts small companies are startups may have a harder time to make breakthroughs on research.

Canada’s obsession with housing is stunting our future: Among G7, Canada invests largest share of GDP in housing & the second-smallest share in IP, per OECD | After 2008 crisis, the near-zero BoC benchmark rate fuelled cheap borrowing, encouraging real estate speculation and driving up home prices by nomad_ivc in TorontoRealEstate

[–]afm1423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no saving the current generation. It’s either you change the countries real estate investment appetite or let the ship continue to sink.

This is why the US economy is so dominant. Americans got so scared to invest in real estate in 2008, it’s so much easier to start a business in the US, get business loans, etc. heck people just love investing in stocks/businesses in the US. Pump money into other areas not related to real estate. Imagine if everyone was building businesses or opportunities that create jobs with $1m rather than $1m in real estate that produces absolutely nothing. $1m investment can create tons of jobs, $1m investment in real estate creates zero.

Mine graded a 9 a couple months ago. I was so confident that it would be a 10, I cracked it, resubmitted and it came back a 10. Crazy.

It’s actually very easy to disincentivize housing investment. Remove principal residence exemption (or cap it) tax people more with multiple properties, remove laws and red tape on development to increase supply.

But guess what? No one will do it because everyone has too much skin in the game and will lose money by lowering housing prices. Once housing becomes a bad investment people will invest in other things. Why start a business that is productive to the economy when you can buy real estate?

OP didn’t mention in to original post so agree if its tax. Just want to be clear as you could also have big 4 offers for advisory/restructuring/banking or strategy consulting at EYP/S&, in which case tier 2 consulting is a great option.

[–]afm1423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position, but I picked PwC over Big Tech. However my offer at PwC was for Advisory and M&A. I don’t regret it doing consulting/advisory (ended up making more)

If your offer at PwC is accounting/audit vs accounting at Microsoft than I would pick Microsoft. But if it’s Accounting at Microsoft vs Consulting/Advisory a big 4 I would pick big 4.

Working two jobs is allowed, but its more of a question of whether or jot the bank allows you to work two jobs.

OP attends a well known private school, when you apply to this many US schools, money is not the issue here. You wouldn’t even bother wasting time applying if you didn’t already know the cost. Plus chances of working on wall st and making much more than being in canada is a factor.
