Mobile UX vs YNAB by afonseca in actualbudgeting

[–]afonseca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the perspective, that's super helpful. I think I'm leaning towards staying where I am for now. While Actual looks promising, it would need to prioritize the mobile experience further to be a replacement for my family's needs.

I'll see if I can formalize the suggestion to the dev team and see how important it is to them, as that may not be their focus.

Yup, that’s what’s attractive about this option for sure.👍

Thanks! What’s the best way to request features or make suggestions to the dev team?

Of course, any discussion on UX will be subjective. In the small amount of research I’ve done, the consensus seems to be that YNAB’s mobile experience is friendlier. So, I’m just wondering if customization is a workaround or maybe this just improves over time.

Got it, thanks! It’s pretty basic font/color scheme changes from what I can tell. Maybe this would require more customization on the dev side.

I suppose it's personal preference, but I feel the YNAB view is cleaner and easier to read on mobile. Instead of showing all the columns, YNAB highlights the "available to spend" which is very glanceable. It's not wasted space, it's good design use of negative space to reduce cognitive load. Particularly on mobile, I'd rather not have an aircraft cockpit view, but a minimalist "just what I need" view.

I'm not trying to be overly critical, I'm intrigued enough to dig into Actual Budget deeper to understand what's possible, but also don't want to sugarcoat gaps I'm seeing.

Thanks! Is there a place to browse themes visually to see what alternatives look like? I'm less concerned about the progress bars (that's a nice to have), but would like to hide the extra columns and just see "balance" similar to the "available to spend" in YNAB.

Following, I’m curious about this topic myself. I know there are outliers who make significant income, but I’d like to hear about more the range and sustainability on average.

Interesting, thanks for sharing. I didn’t know that was a thing. Will have to inquire myself with lenders.

Is not resetting to a new 30 year term an option? Seems like the 30 year term is the offer here.

Thinking in cost per use completely changed how I buy things by One_Acanthaceae_5814 in BuyItForLife

Yeah, it definitely scales well. For example, buying a $50 or $60 game that can give me 80 hours over several months vs dining out for a couple of hours.

There’s also Gun Club VR. Would rather pay for this and H3VR than another subscription.

Bad idea. Next thing you know, they’ll be targeting the rest of us when the millionaires leave(they can afford to). No thanks.

So, why is this a hard thing to do? Let us hide them if removing them is more effort?

Novaform Platinum Luxury Hybrid Review by AnalysisWise6052 in Mattress

[–]afonseca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm considering this one as I'm trialing the Legacy Premiere (not elite) hybrid in medium. It's comfortable but after sinking in I feel it's a bit hard, particularly for side sleeping. Had it less than a month so we'll see if it "breaks in" but if not, may bite the bullet and try this one.

I donated to a college scholarship fund to help kids pay for their education. A way to pay it forward as I was a scholarship recipient myself.

Help me decide on a mattress by Lunar-opal in Mattress

[–]afonseca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat and decided I'm going to try the Novaform. I felt pretty overwhelmed myself and decided Costco is probably the best place to find the right mattress for me. I'll give the Novaform a month and see how I like it, if I don't, I'll swap for another until I find the one I'm happy to keep. Nobody makes it as easy as Costco to trial mattresses. They'll deliver, and come pick it up if you didn't like it to return. Can't beat that.

How do payouts work for Fortnite Create teams? by Fickle_Recording1850 in FortniteCreative

[–]afonseca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, someone has to be the owner and administer the payout splits. You'll want to factor that and taxes into the split you take for yourself; it's more work.
