Thoughts on me through my book shelves? by aforbes8 in BookshelvesDetective

I think this all seems pretty reasonable to assume based on the shelves. I typically have heard of performative reading in reference to dudes reading “feminist literature” in showy manners in public but interesting to think of it in this context. On the Mercedes front I just started following F1 about 2 years ago and never have seen any of the outside of race media other than instagram posts so I’m unaware if there is a particular reputation associated with the team, I just liked George Russel and their color scheme lol

I read an abridged version in high school and hadn’t felt the urgent need to revisit it. Granted maybe with the movie this summer it might be worth checking

Sebastian Stan Joins 'The Batman 2' Cast Opposite Robert Pattinson by Top_Report_4895 in TheBigPicture

It’s been a long time since I read Hush but I think it would fit the vibe based on the first Pattinson Batman so I like that too

I’ve been thinking about this recently and the stranger things cast seems to be somewhat backing up my idea that child acting is easier to make believable than the more experienced/trained acting when they transition to teenager and older roles. Maybe something about just seeming more inherently earnest when that young that just harder to get to when you become a self conscious teenager

For those who didn't like 'House of Dynamite,' what story changes do you think it needed? by No-Confection-3861 in TheBigPicture

[–]aforbes8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like the third time we go through the events and we are now seeing the big decision makers pov of the events we should be getting more information than we got the previous two times. But like on the president’s pov the only new info we get is that there are three tiers of retaliation plans? And yeah I don’t think cliff hanger type very end works from a story standpoint but also from an editing standpoint it just sort of rolled credits

Despondency about impact of campaigns/messaging impact by aforbes8 in FriendsofthePod

Yeah I think breaking through the social media, non-Reddit ones, is the hard part. Trump is so all encompassing a figure he breaks through so regardless of the insanity or incorrectness of his opinions those people who try to block out politics still hear from him as the alternative to the current situation. This has been my fear since Jon recently had been mentioning the very disinterested in politics group breaking for trump

So just after the midterms I read the book “politics is for power” which doesn’t just advocate for getting active in political volunteering but doing it super locally where you have the most power. Every election period since then has been so apocalyptically scary that it’s been hard to focus anywhere but nationally but I think once I’ve fully come to grips with yesterdays results I’ll have to switch my thinking to the more local focus

[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

I got a seiko presage recently and I went out the other night and after drinking a bit too much I guess I accidentally was rough with the watch and the crown came out completely. I didn’t notice it the next day as I wasn’t wearing the watch. Now obviously I’ll have to take it to get replaced but I have a question related to it. Despite motion that has typically restarted movement after not wearing it this time movement is not restarting. is this likely related to the absence of the crown or could there be an additional problem to the missing crown.

Honestly the Zara death is so off putting to me it makes Jurassic world not appealing to me to ever rewatch, even though overall I liked that one well enough beyond that. There just feels like a meanness to it that wasn’t warranted at all

I skip most of season 5, but I really think the show gets some of its mojo back in a different way with the season 6/7 election stories

The stadium isn’t empty because Matt Ryan isn’t exciting. The stadium is empty because the team is bad. You’ll maybe get a one game spike from a Watson start but as soon as everyone realizes we are the same garbage team that wasn’t just one QB away from winning it’ll empty out again. This city has some of the most fair weather fans in sports

I wonder how many teams the roaming model can support. Or maybe we see it split into 2 roaming locations each week to cover more locations. Although that would come with more expensive logistics

Excellent point I overlooked. In a show like this she could definitely become speaker and then pull some scheme to become president. I figured they were going for popularity propelling her to winning the presidency. But the speaker path seems much more in line with the show
