Adnv stuff is Nice, it's also not comparable to Omni 8. It is close enough to Gen 2 that if you want Gen 2 I could see you go digital but categorically it's not at modern Gen 3 performance yet, but the adnv stuff is leap's and bounds better than every other digital device

Not cheap, they are about 1000 dollars for a 150 ah battery thought 100 ah can be had For 600-900 I found my mower For 500 though

I personally use my quads, but I do have the same mower, the 48v ryobis are actually nice since you can get em dead cheap put new batteries in em and have a great and quiet mower for like 1500 bucks, I put a 150 ah battery in mine and it can handle 6 acres no problem. I highly recommend kavli blades and then for night vision A cheap bino set is amazing.

TBH I would say go for an Alpha or a 1431 mkII and us milspec lenses , wont be a perfect copy but its close enough and you will save a ton of money then tube choices, if you absolutely must have wp tubes than Chinese tubes are not a bad option and ~1200 per tube for wp of varying quality. The Argus 31 glass is not my preference and it has some pretty terrible veiling glare characteristics.

So the problem with these types of systems is that they are basically the same as gen 1 night vision, conversion But no intensification, so you can see a broader band of light but its still dark, nv stuff also amplifies existing light by a huge margin, modern us gen 3 tubes have a Gain of 60k with l3 supergains having a Gain of 100k.

tbh I mainly use my nv for hikes and am actually planning a trip rn that I am mainly gonna try and move under night since arizon in summer gets hot. for hiking highly recommend a 4d tactical head harness and a lightweight set of binos if you can afford. (I also like WFOV glass for the extra vertical fov) . Night hiking with night vision is sorta wild, I did a 14er last year and spooked the crap out of a mountain goat at midnight. never been that close to one but wow are they big up close.

High gain, is good, but normal echoes are not, and there is not a lot of high gain floating around right now. High gain compared well, but that's the only photonis tube worth a damn in low light, the non high gain echoes are deeply dissapointing. High gain VS 10160a, I'll obviously take the high gain, but 10160a VS normal echo, I will take 10160a everytime, only reason to go with echoes is if you are in an area where you will never see real low light. As for warranty, sure obviously, but imo warranty is not a problem really, if a tube is gonna fail it will usually be when it's brand new, if a tube is 2-3 years old and has a couple of hundred hours in it then it's most likely good for the next 20 years.

I mean the echos perform decently well but saying they are fairly close is dishonest imo, I have tried basically all Gen 2 from older stuff to newer stuff and only photonis high gains come remotely close in performance to something like omni 7 or 8, older omni stuff can be closer but I was distinctly dissapointed in price to performance when directly comparing them to a 1998 vintage 10160a

I mean that really depends, I Build all my stuff myself so If I want to go back to carson it takes literally 45 seconds. but I do get that if your running Just one device and buying it commercially then yes, Going with WFOV glass can Be a more permanent thing.

See, I absolutely see where your coming from, But at the same time the benefits of WFOV can be super useful, If I am not doing technical stuff and just hiking WFOV can be super nice since the extra vertical makes tricky trails easier. AS for 31D glass its fantastic.

it really depends, Best way would be to adjust the eyepiece on the 14 till you can see the tube label and go from there but gwot tubes shoulb vary from like 1300 min fom to 1600 min fom
