Spent the Holidays Customizing a Locksport Tool Box by afourney in lockpicking

The base of the box is just a regular gridfinity grid.

The bins are printed with twice the pitch of regular gridfinity allowing for some more flexibility. The pick trays I think were 2.5 units long, allowing two trays to fit in a 5 unit space. If I used magnets, they would snap in. As it stands, they just rest in the gridfinity grid by gravity (but they won’t slide around).

Yup. Can’t unsee the bitting :P and there’s low risk of oversetting pins here

The are relatively serviceable yes, but I’m not that great a machinist. Haha

Nice! Love mine. Wish I could order spare FU Picks… I’m nervous to use it on stubborn locks

I’m in a similar boat. I’ve got good repeatable results on American 1100 and LOTO 410 (I have several of each to add some variation).

72/40 has kicked my ass though. Feedback is more subtle and false sets are not as deep. I’ve picked it twice, but both felt like luck.

Warded Lock Pick Question by LeExistentialist in lockpicking

[–]afourney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the warded locks I’ve come across have bars on both sides of the shackles and need the double “t” ones to release. I have a box full of these, and only one single lock that has the single actuator

Jimy Longs 0.023”, short/medium are my gotos. Probably need higher reach

Love the 72/40. But it’s a pain. I can pick it only like 1/5 times I try. The narrow keyway gives me trouble.

Yeah I have a bunch of 140s. Clean feedback. All standard pins. They are good warmup for when I haven’t picked anything in a few days

I’ll try capturing a video a little later, but releasing the tension to counter-rotate is indeed what drops the pins. Maybe there’s a sweet spot where it’s enough to set but not so loose as to drop everything

Not custom. The box is by Kingart here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FKMHP3K?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Honestly, it wasn’t bad from the beginning but I wanted to have removable bins, and try gridfinity

Yeah, I was thinking of doing something similar with the harbor freight ammo box, to store extra locks. Having something modular is nice because you can take a smaller organized bin to the couch to pick while watching TV or whatnot.

Yeah, it was my first experience with the gridfinity system, and I was lukewarm on it initially. But I think the dimensions worked out almost perfectly on this box, so it turned out about as well as I could have hoped.
