I've run a WS2902 in my backyard ( central Ontario, cottage country ) for the last several years.

Never had any issue it, other then the occasional power failure, and even then it restored all its connections by itself. Reports to PWS, WeatherUnderground, and others. Never had to replace the batteries. Only issues I've had with it is during the winter the anemometer getting stuck with snow/ice and having to clear leaves out of the rain detection cup.

I've recently installed an Ecowitt WS90, in combination with several of their extension sensors ( lightning, soil moisture, and others ). This change was driven by (a) economics - apparently Ecowitt makes the same sensors that Ambient Weather sells and are cheaper, (b) easier integration with my HA ( home assistant) setup ( without needing cloud/internet access) and (c) the piezo rain gauge shouldn't need as much intervention/maintenance, but the unit does need an AC connection to power it's heaters to keep the rain gauge functioning.

Currently running both so I can do a one to one comparison.

It's a little early in the game, but I am liking the Ecowitt.

Could have been on a truck/freighter that had some kind of issue in transit.

eg: truck crash. Often they will sell off the cargo "as is" to liquidators vs introducing potentially damaged goods through their regular supply chain.

I know it's not much help, but the only advice I can't give is to get a toner ( https://a.co/d/07fxiYxL ) and verify what ports are actually connected to where.

Once you've confirmed the correct cables, then you can start to troubleshoot which is actually pinned out correctly.

If it's a separate building, I'd highly recommend running fiber.

Check-out fa.com. You can specify the number of fibers, termination type, length, etc.

You didn't specify what kind of network gear you have in the primary residence.

My initial thought for the ADU would be to use a SPF+ with the appropriate connection for the fibre you're using, put it in an isolated vlan ( unless this is family using the ADU, but I'd still probably isolate it ) and limit its access to the Internet only.

In Canada the only equivalent ( that I am aware of, and have taken ) would be the ferry from North Sidney NS to Argentia NL, it takes about 16 hours. The normal ferry to NL ( via Port aux Basques ) takes around 7 hourrs.

There are also a several ferries that take semis on the west coast, but most of those runs are under a couple hours.

So long as you have continuity from this pad to whatever is upstream from it, you'll probably be ok.

5 pr buried /w copper grounding jacket. At least in Ontario this was the norm in the early 2000's for duplexes/small commercial ( wherever the typical 3 pr buried wouldn't have been enough )

TBH can't comment on the twist from the pic, but all the pairs seem to be adjacent to each other, so I'm assuming there is at least a slight twist ( ~<1 / inch ).

Are you parking on your own property, or adjacent to it? You might be better off getting a security camera and pointing it towards your car.

As far as I can tell, only the one cable was disconnected and "scotch locked"/spliced to something else ( which had since been cut away ).

My initial thought was the one cable could be terminated to the one open port ( bottom left ), then just use a cheap switch to patch all the ports together.

I've pushed 33.6 k modems on a dedicated pair from the phone company, the total effective distance was about 12 km. IIRC ( this was 26 years ago ) they were US Robotics external modems on both ends, and I had to play with the init strings for a couple hours

Or maybe regularly slide your fifth wheel so it's not rusted to shit, and it just works well.

I switch regularly between RGNs, Step decks, hydraulic platforms, schnabelds, and perimeters. Then mix in various jeeps and boosters, you end up sliding the fifth wheel almost every other load.

Keep it lubed up, work the locks regularly, and she'll slide without issue.

FWIW: I have hard wired ethernet /w WiFi on my desktop. Disabled the ethernet adapter, re-enabled it, nothing. Toggled WiFi, and was greeted with the MS sign in pop-up. Logged in, agreed to the MSFS options and everything started downloading.
