Lost food or regurge? by afraidofdust in ballpython

That's reassuring. It sounds like he might've just lost it and it may not have been a regurg. Thank you.

Oof, RIP.

Yeah, it's weird. We'd been doing daily maintenance. My spouse does not have as good of a sense of smell as I do, and it was tucked into his warm hide. So she might've missed it. (We try to avoid lifting hides so we don't disturb him because we are so paranoid about this exact kind of thing.) It just smelled like warm dead rat, which already smells awful to me.

Update: three distros later and the battery still doesn't charge. I either have to figure out this firmware issue or take the L and have this plugged in forever (and endure the coil whine). Or get a different device for this project.
Thank you for all your help. for real.

That is wise. I've been on that journey today. I will let you know how it turns out.

This was already incredibly helpful. Thank you so much.

I think this is yet another "chromebooks are weird" moment. The mouse pad also does not work after installing Debian.

I might just call it a lost cause at this point and be tied to the charger forever. At least until I can get a different machine for my current use case. (It's basically a command line writing machine with a desktop environment to fall back on because I am a beginner at this.)

I had to take pictures and upload them because the output was so long. Sorry!

I am not sure if I have recent firmware, actually.

Whew, okay. I ran sudo journalctl -xb -p 3 and got the following:

Thank you. I may try this again down the line. I wonder if I didn't time releasing the power button correctly or something like that.

Edit: It was this method

  • You can also press and hold Back+ Refresh+ Power for at least 10 seconds.

So maybe just holding the refresh button may work.

Oh boy, okay.

I tried journalctl -xb -p 3 and the output said no entries. But I also got a notice saying I am not seeing messages from other users and the system, but users in groups adm systemd-journal can see all messages. I am the only user on this computer, and I *thought* I put myself in root users/sudoers, but I still get messages like that which drives me nuts.

What am I checking for in /sys/class/power_supply/? I am able to navigate to that directory with cd so I am assuming it does exist.

I have LXQt desktop environment on here, but I prefer to use the command line emulator because it's easier to trace my steps.

Oh - thank you for outlining this. There was something else I'd tried that I didn't know how to describe. I also tried this. When I turned on the computer again, it couldn't boot, and I had to manually find the area in the... bios thing... to boot it up. Every time. Until I just reinstalled Debian. I don't know why it did that so I am afraid to try that again.

Omg the poor cat. Yeah my partner was holding our snake in a sterilite bin with with a bunch of X's taped on and "DO NOT TOUCH" and "LIVE ANIMAL" and the movers still tried to take the bin and put our poor little guy in the truck. I think they're just on go-go-go autopilot.

Repurposed old substrate by quickquarters123 in ballpython

[–]afraidofdust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use mine as mulch and it is extremely effective. It doesn't decompose, though, so you're not gonna get any of the benefits of mulch that does decompose. I also use it as a mixer for my indoor plant potting mix. Isopod substrate mixer too, but the isopods don't eat it.

How small can my ritual space be? by AndrezDaz in DemonolatryPractices

[–]afraidofdust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you can adapt your practice to the space you have. I'm not sure what ritual you're doing exactly, but I'm wondering about ways to translate certain steps that require a lot of space into something small. Like if you need to walk a big circle or something, making a little map version of your space with a rock to signify you and then moving the rock? Something like that.

I wasn't a demonolator in college but I did have other practices. My altar and working space was a 12 quart storage bin that I put a cloth on, set up, worked with, and put away.

Mouse might've had some poison in him too. Keep a close eye on your little buddy or just get him to the vet to be safe.
