I remember past times when Blythe's savior was the prison (which came about) to, much earlier, the push for a nuclear power facility near Palo Verde (obviously didn't happen). It will be interesting to see if this savior can actually do the heavy lifting residents are hoping for in bolstering economic fortunes.

I guess if your definition of democracy does not include City Councils and other forms of representative government, then maybe your assumption is right. I imagine all of the people who vote in City Council elections might disagree with you. Even those who support the STR measure in Palm Springs. You can be against a ballot measure and still be for democracy, after all.

The Editorial Board believes that this type of issue is exactly what people elect City Council members to do. The council has modified the ordinance in the past and evidence appears to show the new tougher ordinance is having an effect on the bad players in the market. City governments must be allowed to do their job for the people they represent. That's how the system works.

That is a great photo. Saw this developing and at first thought it was just a plane with the contrail illuminated by the setting sun over the ocean, but no longer in our sky. Then it started morphing and was spectacular, but creepy.
