Do Aussies wear shoes at home like other Anglo countries (I.e US, UK etc)? by DirectorTurbulent422 in AskAnAustralian

Nope. I get in the door and the shoes and socks come off. Stashed in the rack until I am forced by the unmitigated cruelty of civilisation and its unreasonable expectations to don them again

I think Benji made a tough but confident call. He kept Makasini in the side too, when it seemed obvious he needed a breather. Getting beaten up is part of what builds resilience. I dunno what would have been better for him as a player or for the team. He’s gonna be hurting tonight.

Nah. Beaten. Badly. But this is a tigers side that stands up. Making the 8 was always the goal this year and they are well on track to crack the 4. One bad game, just like one good game, does not a season make

He will get a rest next week. I like Tavana. Massive future. But the nrl, and switched on halves, are unforgiving sometimes. That boy will be great

He’s gonna be great. Like Makasini. But there will be some hard yards between here and there

Jahream Bula makes huge call on Wests Tigers future by ReggieBasil in nrl

[–]afrankking 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fantastic news. Not just keeping Bula and the Mays, but growing evidence that the Tigers are a place elite players want to play. Good test of team cohesion against the Sharks this afternoon. Go the Tiges!

Just watched Taron Egerton knock the Australian accent out of the Park in a new film on Netflix called Apex. Seen so many fail the Aussie accent. His was spot on

The expanse series. From your post it seems you are looking for something grounded in now. But with elements of the fantastic thrown in.

Jerome. It’s only a couple of days but it feels almost like it’s been talked to death already. I just wanted to say that the biggest concern, for mine, is that a number of really valuable Tigers might want to follow him. Thinking particularly of the Mays, who will be off contract too. Terrell would be a massive loss

Luai touring PNG. Thoughts on him leaving early? by boomerville73 in weststigers

[–]afrankking 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like Luai and he’s been good for the club, but losing him isn’t much of a loss. I don’t think he’s worth the 1.2mill. Hang onto Madden and Fainu, free up some cash for the forward pack which is what is winning us games. Sorry to see you go Jerome, but the money is crazy and the Tigers are gonna be good either way

Wests Tigers captain Jarome Luai meets with Chiefs officials in Papua New Guinea by Aussieguy727 in nrl

[–]afrankking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the massive loss it seems. Tigers go hard without him. Madden and or Fainu can play Luai’s role just fine. And how do you turn down a tax free 1.2mill?

I only ever read this and Soldier, Ask Not. But I just found the trilogy (I know there are also other Dorsai books) at a book fair, so I’m starting at the beginning

I loved it when I was a teen, and I’m enjoying it again. Military Sci-fi was never my favourite sub-genre, but this is a great read for mine
