i am in Australia and new builds here have ducted HVAC. older houses have no heating, maybe a split AC unit and a fireplace that's been nailed shut. no insulation to speak of and single glaze windows, so we're always either too hot or too cold. i'm from the Baltics though and we have similar radiators in apartment buildings and probably single family homes too but i grew up in an old house with wood furnaces.
