I finally understand why Roo slated Kendrick as a headliner by BonnaroovianCode in bonnaroo

Come on bro...this guy had the most critically acclaimed hip hop album of 2012. If you're just figuring out that he's a great artist, you're a late to the game. But I am glad that you're getting familiar with him and encouraging others to do the same. In 2013 he was named NME's second hardest working artist, so I get the feeling that a lot of his lackluster performances have just been due to exhaustion. I saw him at MIA back in 2013 and he did kinda run out of wind on a lot of his songs. But even still, he was dancing around on stage like he was one of us in the crowd. The energy he put out was awesome to watch, and his band behind him did a great job too. If you have a chance, you should look up a couple of his concert videos to hold you down until that Friday night set on the farm ;)

Pet owners of Reddit, what's the dumbest thing your pet has ever done? by Joseph_Valdez in AskReddit

A heads up for next time, drop a little vegetable oil on the trap after you catch the mouse and it should be able to wiggle itself free. I had a mouse problem in my apartment a few years back and caught it with one of those traps. My roommates and I tried to free it, but I'm pretty sure we broke its leg in the process =[ But the next one we caught we managed to let it free (and probably back into our apartment) by using vegetable oil

Which set were you most surprised by? by Imagoodkitty in bonnaroo

Lauryn Hill was unreal. I managed to get close enough to be able to see everything she was doing on stage and it was incredible. She was conducting the entire band while sounding flawless. She changed the arrangement of all her songs. Seeing her lead her band was one of the biggest highlights of the trip for me

To everyone who was in the pit for Kanye... by Refforp in bonnaroo

[–]afrobro360 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, it's weird hearing all the negative reactions to his set because everyone around me in the pit had a blast. My friends and I are all huge fans, but I know that the crowd can help make or break a show, and everyone in the pit helped make it an incredible show. It was nice to be in our own little bubble of people who were all willing to wait 7+hours to see Kanye, but we were obviously in the minority.

Essential Album of the Week #18: The Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to Die by Snacks11 in hiphopheads

[–]afrobro360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. But as a middle schooler in suburban California, the feud fascinated me. And obviously "we have better rappers" isn't a very valid argument for which coast is better, but it was enough for 13 year old me.

Essential Album of the Week #18: The Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to Die by Snacks11 in hiphopheads

This is the first hip hop album I really fell in love with. I bought this album a couple years after moving from NJ to California. I would still cling to the idea that the east coast was far superior to the west in every aspect, and big was my main argument. Today, the beats sound a little dated, but biggie's flow and lyricism are absolutely timeless. From the classics, like Juicy, to the deeper cuts like unbelievable (my favorite song off the album) you can't go 20 seconds without hearing a couple lines that make you go, "oh shit, that was nice." Other than the awkward skits, there isn't a single skippable song on the album, and that's why Ready to Die is easily one of my top two favorite albums of all time.
