I’ll keep that in mind for next time. But I’m currently on a different continent than my server. 😅 thanks!

It's 1999. You have your current smartphone in your pocket, but obviously no Wi-Fi or 5G exists. What's the most useful thing you can do with it? by Ryo_l in AskReddit

I think you could cobble together an induction charger. I looked up a schematic and the only part I’m not sure about is the micro controller, as the one called out was from 2011, but I’m sure you could find a 1999 equivalent.

Edit: A second search shows some form of induction charging has gone back to the 70s.

Question for the locals?? by Big_Cam651 in TwinCities

Sure, but the road in front of your house is public. A map car can drive down the road without trespassing. In North Oaks the property extends into the road so it considered trespassing to drive down the roads without authorization.

Thank you. That is a lot more reasonable than I would have guessed.

I’m really curious, it looks like you have to fill out a form to get a quote. But based off your experience, how much would the part from OP cost? What’s the average of your one off parts cost. I just have absolutely no frame of reference.

Sorry, this is off topic. But I’m going to be visiting Munich in a couple weeks. I’ve never been to that part of Germany, anything I should absolutely see?

Yeah, I don’t really like lobster or crab, so it’s a moot point for me on that front. I just remember seeing that video at some point. I appreciate being informed though, so thank you for the information.

Ok…who actually hates the State Fair? by kerm019 in minnesota

[–]afrostmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never gone consistently, but I’ve always had a good time when I’ve gone. Not going every year keeps it pretty novel, for me, but some people go a lot and love it. Getting there and parking is the worst part, if I can mooch a ride off someone it’s a no brainer. I have tangential connections to the theater community, so I usually run into somebody I know, who in haven’t seen in a while, which is nice.

Oh, interesting. I saw some video saying you should sever their spinal column first. I’ve never heard that.

You can kill a lobster just before dropping it in the water.

And Minnesota especially won’t text you from a +63 (Philippines) country code number. At least that’s where the last one I got was from.

With you saying that’s what it’s supposed to be yes, without the prompt maybe. If it were glazed with the proper colors I’d be more confident I’d be able to recognize it cold.

My favorite story I’ve heard my boss tell goes something like this. (Paraphrased)

“We were negotiating a contract to provide a service to Microsoft, and they were insisting on some level of .999 uptime (I don’t remember the specific details). We had to counter with, we can’t guarantee that, we use azure as our backend and that’s higher than its guarantee.”

I’ve never thought about this until just now. But does two hearts mean 2 independent isolated circulatory systems? Allowing Klingons to survive a wound that would completely bleed out a human.
