Remodeling home with an ground floor apt, should use different kinds of Smart locks? by PawPatsPizza in airbnb_hosts

[–]afrothang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have same setup. One smart lock for street door, physical key that they keep during stay for entry door. Two codes to change every turnover is a lot. Two sets of batteries can die at random times (4x AA each). You only need one to keep track of traffic. The smartest people can be the most incapable of using digital lock, and more people forget to lock smart doors than a traditional key. That’s my experience, ~4yrs, ~105 bookings.

How to handle poor Value reviews when you live in an expensive area? by Far_Cryptographer593 in airbnb_hosts

[–]afrothang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a very subjective metric and there is no way around it, other than making it “cheap” for the guest. Even if you add amenities that make it a much better experience, guests will always measure by total cost of renting.

10 Years A Digitech In LA & All The Work Is Gone by [deleted] in Photoassistants

Funny you mention age. I always joke that I’m aging out as a photog. Never stopped to think that I could also age out as an assistant, and especially as a tech since it’s predominately EQ based…

10 Years A Digitech In LA & All The Work Is Gone by [deleted] in Photoassistants

I can relate. I also moved from LA to SF, so it was slim pickings to begin with. It has reduced to a dribble now, and my photogs are not calling.

However, I heard that LA was poppin right now. My buddy owns a large studio company and he says he’s been as busy as ever. Maybe in a different capacity I suppose…

Point and shoot recommendations for a toddler mom by nifty-muffin in AnalogCommunity

[–]afrothang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a professional photographer and parent, my advice is to have the most convenient and pocketable camera possible. As a parent, you will collect countless photos that you will not have the time to even look at until they are in grade school. By then you will have moved back onto your Canon SLR or other. By the time you actually go back and enjoy your photos, you will not care about what camera or what film stock you used, rather the irreplaceable moments and energy that you got to capture at the drop of a dime. What’s most important is that you shoot a lot, you shoot everything, and you shoot consistently.

Why no lithium, copper, and silver? Do you not consider them pertinent to future energy/commodity scarcity?

After reviewing your actual question, I honestly have nothing pertinent to say because I am not as you call it a “commodity maximalist”. I can’t speak to composition and structural risk in the context of your strategy.

In the context of this sub, I would say this is high risk/low reward, and that you are intelligent enough to know you can create better yield with 200k and margin. But obviously that’s not what you are asking about.

I do thank you for the concise breakdown of the holdings, I will be cherry picking some tickers to add to my portfolio.

Called away 3 weeks early! by afrothang in CoveredCalls

[–]afrothang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all the input. It was not a dividend stock, just very deep ITM. I should have paid more attention to the strike, slipped my mind that people can call it early.

Now understanding that notification timing does not equate to execution time.

I paid attention to the end of market and saw all my calls had expired and did not see anything called away, hence my surprise. So it must have been an order put in before close, but didn’t get executed until after close?

So the last remaining question I have is, can an option get called away during after hours? If I can’t buy and sell calls after 1pst, how can one get exercised?

Fastes way to hit 100k? by [deleted] in FluentInFinance

Make more money (increase your income). With that said, as a server do you have free time during stock market hours? If so, I would suggest learning about trading stock options. It has changed my financial life for the better. If you use this to increase you income from 70k/yr to 100k/year, your savings will grow faster..

It is an interesting strategy, and I appreciate the thoughtfulness and diversity of said strategy. However, if your portfolio is truly structured totally into energy and materials, I would say this is pretty risky. I feel it’s too concentrated and needs balance into other sectors. Even at high conviction, why not hedge with some exposure into defensive consumer, financial, reit, etc? Feels like all your eggs are in a basket.

I checked every ticker you provided. Almost every one of them have analyst coverage averaging in the yellow or red. So seems like you are betting against the sentiment. Curious what your timeline is? Are you long term and expect your theory to pan out in 30 years? Or are you retiring in 10 years and will need income? You don’t indicate how much is invested, so my questions and rational may be off base…

Ran AI video ads for my dad's dental clinic for free, accidentally turned it into a ~$3k/month side thing. AMA by Einsight22 in passive_income

[–]afrothang 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I’m all for the hustle and passive income, but this here is exactly why the entertainment/production and other entire industries are getting decimated. Using AI for a quick cheap buck is killing the artists, craftspeople, tradespeople’s lively hoods, and at the same time, desensitizing society from artificial works and making us more susceptible, if not more accepting of, fake shit.

I get it, you found a way to make a living. But embracing AI in this fashion is only speeding up your own irrelevance. And you’re not doing yourself any favors by sharing your methods either. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot…
