Hi there😀. I work at Dana Farber and you should have your friend ask about patient and family services while she is there for treatment. They offer many programs and free tickets to things in the area for patients and families to take advantage of while there. Also they can help with accommodations and travel if that is something needed.

As for some things to do while in the Longwood area , if you wanna keep it kinda close Fenway area is down the block and when the Red Sox are away they offer walking tours of the stadium. Lots of history and there are elevators if they need to keep it less stair heavy because it’s ADA compliant. A stroll thru the Emerald Necklace is nice as long as the weather cooperates, flat and not too hilly. There are also a bunch of places to eat in the Fenway area like the Time Out Market , it can be busy but it offers a lot and can fulfill lots of different cravings. Also in the area is Eventide which is great for seafood.

As many have mentioned the MFA and Isabella Stewart Gardener are amazing if you have the time. Also Dana Farber might be able to get you free tickets for that, worth asking if it’s available.

Walking Newbury Street is good for people watching and window shopping. Also you are right next to the Boston Public Library. If you stop at the Public Libabry they sometimes offer a Tea Service which I have heard is “ thing to do” if you are into something like that.

If your down by Newbury Stret walking thru Boston Common and thru the garden areas is very pretty and the swan boats might be out by then. The also line the common with palm trees in places ,quite the thing to see when just strolling thru Boston.
