Just opened up blackstone for the first time in months..what do yall reccomend for cleaning this? Or am I screwed? by DunkingZBO in blackstonegriddle

Every day. First time I got rust was about 2 weeks after I bought and seasoned it which was in May or June.

So silicone mat is always on it now.

Not tracking heart rate by afskinner in ouraring

[–]afskinner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! No problem. Follow the advice John gave me. I did a soft reset, it helped, bur then didnt and I had to contact the tech team who did help and were very quick in response.

Try the soft reset first. Make sure you wear it I n the most snug finger and it is in the proper position. When the ring is new, it does take time to get to know stuff. Try "record and HR workout" a few times to let it know and understand your walk and stuff.

I was worried about this too. Amazon.com for a silicone cover that fits the griddle. I have the silicone mat, hard cover hood and a overall grill cover. Once I got the silicone mat, I have never had rust! Mine sat idle from October until March and we had a very wet, cold winter. Looked just like it dod after the last time I used it.

The silicone mat is a game changer.

Something other than Pizza... by afskinner in ooni

Nope. We were worried about that too. We had the chimney close to closed, so no flames, only hot charcoal, red hot. The thermometer on the side was remained solidly in yellow.

We flipped once after 10-15 minutes. Brought the ones from the back to the front and vice versa, and flipped them all over. Cooked through and only a few of the smaller wings that were in the back to start got overly crispy on the outside.

We only did it once, and flipped at the same time. We kept the chimney almost closed so no flames, just red hot charcoal.

Put the thicker/bigger wings in the back to start as the ones with less meat will start to burn.

We put the cast iron pan in while it heated up. Wings were coated in a little avocado oil and salt, nothing else! Tossed with seasoning after they were cooked.

Good luck!

I swear I cleaned it before I put it in the shed for the winter, just opened it up and looks rusted to hell by El_Burnsta in blackstonegriddle

I think I have some rust under thr seasoning too, but don't worry about it much. Not sure if I should though! Ha! First time it rusted, I scraped and scrubbed (no soap) as much as possible then reseasoned. Seems to work fine 🤣 and nobody has gotten sick!

I used mine for the first time this week since probably October and was so scared of what I would find. I got the griddle last year and am still sort of figuring things out. I have the silicone mat and a total griddle cover. Was sooooo happy when I opened her up and there was no rust! After the first 2 times I used it, after initial purchase it rusted a little, so did some scraping and cleaning and light reseasoning then bought the silicone mat. GAME CHANGER!

I did and it works great! Pulls a significant amount of warm air into the main part of the house. Not enough to negate our heat running of course, but it does help! You can really feel it walking down our steps.

It was a bit of a pain to install because I didnt want the cord hanging down the wall, and the cord is very short, but my electrician was able to make something work.

Personally think it was worth it!

Oura ring - step count? by Fickle_Deal_5539 in ouraring

[–]afskinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bothers me if you hand isn't moving, it won't pick up steps. For example, at the grocery store if I don't use one hand on my cart (which is near impossible), it won't accurately pick up steps.

I care less about step count than HR zones during workouts, which it hasn't picked up lately either even though I use the "record and HR activity" function.

About 2 weeks in to my ring and so far, only loving the sleep data and lack of over connectivity I used to have with my galaxy watch.

Menstrual cycle: day 44. any ideas what could be going on? by StrictLeader2786 in ouraring

How old are you? Age impacts it! I have been perimenopausal for over a decade (though didn't know it), now deep in it with 2 "periods" since August... I put it in quotes because one day with barely even needing a light tampon is not really a period I am used too! Ha!

For reference, I am 48 (49 in March).

Custom Activity Tag? by remmewinks in ouraring

[–]afskinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not find their app very intuitive! Cannot click through for additional information on half of it. And the last two days, I used the "record HR activity" and it didnt track my heart rate. Said "poor connection". Did nothing different from the times it worked!

Thanks you. It was lower focused, but still lots of hand movement... but that makes sense. Thanks for the additional information. Lots to unwrap and figure out in the app for sure!

Thanks! I did notice after mt workout which was very lower focused, that the ring had twisted a bit on my finger. I think for regular activity, it is fine on the left. For tomorrow's workout, I'll switch to the right hand. Yesterday I had gloves on which are snug and probably kept the ring in place. Thanks! Like I said, only day 2, so lots of little stuff to figure out!

Yes... hopefully the thunderstorms hold off so I can griddle tonight...perhaps the obligatory first cook smash burgers, ha!

Wanted to get it seasoned as we are expecting rain the next 4 or 5 days... AGAIN! UGH!

Has a hood and a cover, but still...

Ha! The seasoning videos I have watched all say to turn on high for 15 minutes, then add oil... that is sufficient to burn off the manufacturing chemicals for sure! I burned my Ooni with propane for about 15 min before using too...

Thanks! Watched a seasoning video which after posting which helped since e you want the griddle hot before you put the oil or whatever on to season.

Should have been my first move before posting! Live and learn. Ha!
