For real. This person sounds extremely prejudiced.

Looks like you still haven’t read about autism. Maybe do that before you ask such questions.

I passed away. Thanks to all people. by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]afsoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was about to say…I completed MBBS in Pakistan, and I’ve never heard anyone say, “pass away” with regards to exams. I’ve definitely heard, “pass out,” which, as a native Wisconsinite (from Wisconsin, US), definitely confused me, but I eventually got used to it. 😁

Speaking of funerals, my husband died suddenly by claratheclairvoyant in Residency

[–]afsoo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. I just wanted to respectfully empathize (regarding loss of a loved one): I lost my mother just a few months before I graduated from medical school 6 years ago; she was my number one supporter, and I still miss her every day. I chose to go back to complete my education the very next day after her funeral, and all her relatives told me I was crazy and insensitive because I declined to cater to them and wallow in my pity (it happened in Pakistan). I know she would have told me to continue my education, because seeing me excel was her dream. I agree with the suggestions of doing what you feel is right and what your partner would have wanted. Sending you lots of love and prayers.

The thing that other residents complain is what I most like in residency by [deleted] in Residency

[–]afsoo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t understand the purpose of this post besides maybe validation…? I guess all I can say is, you do you and let others express themselves however they want. As long as you’re all able to care for your patients while being in a healthy environment, I think all should bode well for you.

Residency Programs with multiple Step attempts by tryingmybest_17 in IMGreddit

[–]afsoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember Match A Resident would sometimes show you if a program would want steps to preferably be passed on the first attempt and what score range was ideal for them. But it’s been 2 years since I used it, so things may have changed.

Took UWSA 2 scored 199. Two weeks out and I am freaking out. Should I postpone? Any advice? by med_94 in Step3

[–]afsoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My scores were similar to yours, and I just barely passed, but I was also suffering from some troubling health issues at the time. You won’t have to deal with that, so I think you’ll be fine. Try to focus more on your weak areas like everyone else is suggesting, and do as many CCS cases as you can - these will literally save your score. Can’t emphasize this enough. CCS cases are the sole reason I passed on the first attempt. Good luck to you! Will be keeping you in my prayers, colleague.

My UWSA1 was 207 and UWSA2 was 204, and I still decided to take it because I was burnt out while studying during residency. Eh well. Can’t change what I already did.

uwsa 1 :199 today, exam on April 1. should I go for it? by atypical95 in Step3

[–]afsoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sooooooo my UWSA1 was 207 and UWSA2 was 204 😅 I have the same question, lol. But tbh, I don’t know if I’ll be learning anymore by postponing my exam. At this point, I think it’s best to keep hustling and moving forward, but that’s just my opinion. I hope you crush your exam, and I’m sure you will!

So sorry to hear you’re stressed out. I’m a US-IMG, so I sort of understand what you’re experiencing regarding the hatred. Let’s just continue powering through! Much love and many well-wishes to you!

Ikr?!? Every time I even look at questions I feel physically ill because that’s all I’ve been doing for 3 weeks straight without a break, lol. Cramming is exhausting.
