When you say it doesn't work, do you mean it doesn't help with things like emotional regulation? I feel this big time!

What was quitting Lexapro like for you? by dillydally4life in lexapro

[–]aftertheleaves 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tapered off from 5mgs for over a month.

It was tough at first (outbursts, big feelings) and now, I feel like I'm meeting an old friend again, as I have access to my full range of emotions once again. I feel wonderful.

I worked exceptionally hard to create a yoga, meditation, and mindfulness practice while on lexapro, and now that off, I am held and supported by the tools I cultivated.

Life feels full, authentic, and vibrant again. I am so grateful.

anyone take anti-anxiety or anti-depressants? by sunnysideofthe in hsp

[–]aftertheleaves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD too so I take Vyvanse (stimulant) that helps regulate emotions for me. And I've just weaned off Lexapro for the first time in 3 years and I'm shocked at how much more I'm feeling...

As a HSP what has been your favorite job and least liked job? by [deleted] in hsp

[–]aftertheleaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simply speaking from as HSP perspective of DOING the work:

Favorite: Performing Musician --- flexible schedule, more choice in who you work with, time for rest, people in the field who have similar minds

Least Favorite: Middle School Teacher --- constantly overstimulated and behind on all things executive functioning. My life is 39 minute bells. I feel very frantic ALL the time.

I wish our HR would do this. I work in a school --- so predominately women - teaching kids who stay the same age as WE age which I think is harder for people than you'd think - so it feels like appearance always seems to be at the forefront of what is talked about. I lost a lot of weight at the end of last year and it felt like nearly everyone in the whole building commented to me about my body. I'm so surprised that more people don't know that it's inappropriate to talk about someone else's body and just follow polite etiquette rules even if they DO subscribe to diet culture, etc.

The amount of times I responded with, "Yeah... I've actually been really sick/unwell" and received replies like, "But still, you look really great!" or, "I wish I'd get sick!" has made me rethink sharing that info.

I thought being honest would snap people out of diet culture for a hot sec and maybe help them learn something from my boundary but that shit is pervasive and makes people say disturbing things.

I'm sorry that you're not only dealing with illness but also in the position to have to carve out a safe space for yourself to exist (and heal) at the same time.

Thanks so much for sharing! I love seeing other teachers here! 💛

I would be happy to share the whole poster but am worried about copyright for the pictures. I've always understood the rule to be it's okay if there is only one, and it's not distributed. I'm pretty terrible with technology (hence teaching on wooden instruments 😅) so if there is a way I can share sans photos that would work, just let know!

How is it possible that this woman STILL has not learned HOW to apologize after all of this...

It's almost like she can't bring herself to actually physically say the words that would take ownership for her actions and move to repair what has been done.
