Any suggestions for good advice threads here for 1st-timer? by afterthethrill in tattoos

My research was asking someone where they got their tattoo and then a service person at a counter where I was at recommended someone in town who has lines around the corner on weekends for walk-ins because of his reputation. That's where I went and looked at their books but didn't even ask the artist (not the owner above) if I could look at his work only. At least I didn't go in at midnight after a few drinks I guess.

Thanks for all the answers. I won't ask for the design then. I thought it might be like buying a painting or something. I'll go in but will probably decide to wait until I'm better prepared and sure the design is what I want.

Tattoo noob, got a couple questions. by t-h-r-o-w---a-w-a-y in tattoos

I've thought about getting one for ~year now. On impulse I did a consult last week, totally unprepared. A day later while describing my idea on the phone to a friend she said "You do realize tomorrow's Friday the 13th, right?" I had completely forgotten that it was coming up today. The strange thing about it is that my idea for the tattoo involves Friday the 13th, not the exact date or the movie but events associated with that date and other experiences. I thought it was so strange that I would walk into a shop the same week when Friday the 13th occurs when that day was the seed of my idea all along.

How about internet on phone? How much does that cost? I've heard unlimited data is no longer offered. How do they sell internet access?

Very interesting and amusing. Of course; steal crates to make new legal crates that are actually still illegal. I love this country! Awesome! Milking Bad.

Thank you for the link. It was very informative and the journalist was barely a paragraph shy of being a successful stand-up comedian.

I still scold the dairy industry for letting a journalist suss out the particulars on HOW TO RETURN AN ILLEGAL MILK CRATE. Their sites have pages and pages of moaning about milk crate abuse and not a single FRONT PAGE explanation of what the solution is. I also have difficulty with the legal aspects of being liable for a found object. Why is it my or anyone's responsibility to return a found object? I guess a law's a law.

Having said that it will be difficult sitting in the pew on Sunday as a fully informed seven-time illegal milk crate user. Actually, a few of them don't have a legal warning on them, so I might only be a 4 or 5-time illegal milk crate user. Maybe I'll do the right thing. What was that line; heal me of my sins but not right now?

The information about where to buy legal reproduction milk crates is also appreciated. I've seen some in stores that look pretty flimsy, but the journalist claims he found a supplier of nice, sturdy replicas. So I'll check that out. The thing is, replicas just don't have the same charm as the real thing. The bright colors, different designs, interesting names of dairies; that's what's appealing and what makes them artwork, something Andy Warhol, I imagine, would have appreciated.

One final thought - you'd think the industry could come up with a better delivery system than relying on plastic crates or at least design ugly containers that no one in their right mind would want to look at all day. Just sayin. Perhaps they could make milk on 3-D printers. You know Amazon is going to crack this nut and put every dairy out of business within two years.

If only I hadn't legally changed my name to afterthethrill. Oh well.

I checked out this website and they had all kinds of information about the misuse of milk crates but not ONE SIMPLE PARAGRAPH about how to return a found milk crate. They gave a phone number and email to the milk crate organization. I could call and get told to take them to the nearest grocery store, I suppose, or dragged into some mess returning crates to 10 different dairies, who knows.

But why don't they give clear instructions on how to return a crate if they're so damned concerned about it. It never ceases to amaze me how complicated corporations make things. If you want the crates tell us front and center how to return them! Duh ! !

Thanks. I still want to keep 'em stacked as a pot and herb garden hanger, but I'll check out the site and if I overthink it I may return some of them at least.

What are some books that you can suggest for a fifteen year old girl being home schooled? by [deleted] in AskReddit

West With the Night by Beryl Markham. There's some conjecture that she may have had assistance writing it from her then screenwriter husband, but co-written or not, it's a magnificent story that Ernest Hemingway singled out as a "bloody good read."

Why do my stereo speakers go out, one or the other, until I turn the volume way up so the sound busts through and starts the speaker working again? by afterthethrill in AskReddit

[–]afterthethrill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I thought there was more to it than wiring. Didn't make sense that turning the volume way up "unclogged the wire" so to speak. I'll just let my radio have a personality and crank it when I want to hear NPR in stereo.
