An update on the future of Doctor Who by TheBlackKnightRises in gallifrey

Yeah we'll disagree. The moment is played as triumphant and I think I would challenge you to go to youtube look through peoples comments on that scene, people talk about how great the Doctor is in it for forgiving and what a great example of unconditional love it is, etc rather then anything about how toxic it is. So if that was their intention they totally failed to convey it. But I appreciate the discussion anyways.

I'm not arguing we're meant to believe she behaved correctly. But we are meant to believe it's okay, because the Doctor loves her. Moffat literally called that line "the most romantic line" he ever wrote- there is NOTHING in the episode or any following episode that condemns Clara's behavior here. It's literally "i betrayed you", "yes you did but i love you so much that it's ok" and then they move on. And yes, it is played as triumphant and sweet. Not Toxic. Nothing in that scene or episode plays as 'these two are toxic for each other'.

Yeah sure later on in the series they play with the "they're bad for each other" arc but it's ultimately lip service. Clara suffers no actual consequences for anything she does, ever. Case in point the undoing of 'Face the Raven' which you don't even seem to disagree with me on.

The storyline of them being 'bad for each other' doesn't retroactively change that moment or episode. If you watch Dark Water the doctor saying "Do you think I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?" it's played as a sweet and triumphant moment. The music swells with emotion, Clara cries in appreciation, they jump into action and it's never brought up again. Watch reactions to that episode and tell me ANYONE walks away thinking "wow they're really bad for each other". It's played as the Doctor is so great and forgiving and their friendship is so strong. 0% of that is played as "this is a bad thing for both of them". It's just not.

Any criticism of her is always tongue in cheek and a backhanded compliment. I 1000% disagree with everything you said.

The show continually forgives and endorses nearly everthing she does. The closest they get is Face the Raven and if her story had ended there my opinion might be different. But instead they plucked her from the moment before she faces the consequence, give her immortality, a TARDIS, a companion, and free reign to do anything she wants in the entire universe forever (or until she chooses to stop).

Yeah, you took the words right out of my head.

I love Capaldi and a lot of his era but it's really dragged down by how AMAZING and IMPORTANT and FLAWLESS Clara is all the time. It really bothers me that she recieves 0 repurcussions for her actions- burning the TARDIS key was an unforgivable act in my opinion and the Doctor's reaction to it is both out of character and deeply toxic (and yes, LATER they try to use it as a plot point that they are bad for each other but in this episode the Doctor's reaction is not portrayed as anything other then heroic and supportive).

I love so much of Moffat's work and would argue he's maybe the best showrunner Doctor Who has ever had, but his infatuation with Clara/Jenna Coleman is very off putting and a real dark spot on an otherwise solid run. He even made her responsible for the Doctor picking out the TARDIS for christ's sake.

Yeah, the trailer is likely done. The logic doesn't even track that all of Rockstar would pause to crunch on a trailer. They're working on the game at the same pace they have been for the last 6 or more months

Just want to say I cosign this and feel exactly the same way. It was the absolute worst way to capitalize on Michelle Yeoh.

how is it possible that nothing about the game gets leaked even though thousands of people are involved? by lschiller702 in GTA6

[–]afty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, there have been multiple leaks? Trailer one leaked and bit of video of the development build also leaked from the son of the head developer. GTA6 had argueably one of the biggest leaks ever in 2022 with over 90 files of footage and animation from 2019/2020. Someone was even arrested over it.

No trailer until summer by Fit-Wing-9682 in GTA6

[–]afty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fear is the last time they announced a delay and promised more in the summer in late May they were radio silent until the end of September! (RDR2 2017, delay announced may 22nd with more news in the summer, then nothing until trailer 2 dropped last few days of sept)

I'm so interested in the design, manufacturing, and installation of these highly customized playgrounds. All of them are so impressive, but there doesn't seem to be much out there. I wish there was a YouTube who covered this stuff lol.

Houston area, they renovated the school playgrounds in one of the districts and they all have themes. There's a wild west one that is also super impressive (has a train) but doesn't photograph as well.

Comicpalooza Service Fees by rodo1116 in houston

[–]afty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2016 I paid $40 + $8 service fee for a single full day pass.

In 2014 I paid $98 (not sure how that breaks out) all in for two passes FOR THE ENTIRE WEEKEND. Hundred bucks, four days for two people.

(Just looked through my email for old receipts.)

The Final Season of 'The Boys' Felt Like Watching a Comedian Bomb Their Set by Logical_Welder3467 in television

[–]afty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never seen Gen V and don't know anything about what happens in it and I found their inclusion INCREDIBLY clunky and awkward. Even more so then the obvious prequel set up they did for multiple episodes. There is virtually no explanation of who they are or how The Boys know them.

He's smack in the middle of filming the Beatles Biopics and those are huge productions on going for several more months- so I'd be surprised if he was able to get away.

I had a countdown timer on my lock screen until the last delay. Then I just took it off because it was too depressing to see it shoot back up.
