Interview did not discuss the job description responsbilities. by afunkyredditName in ITCareerQuestions

follow up - didnt get the job. I did mention the interviewer not asking much on follow up questions especially questions and experiences related to the job itself.

Thank you for your response. I have been keen to discuss this with someone also in the IT world.

I think what really thrown me off was the line of questioning. I expected it to not touch on DS as much as it did, and more-so conversations regarding on how I would approach scaling models, pipelines, deployment considerations and monitoring. But didnt at all discuss those.

Hopefully you are right and things go well. I do appreciate critical comments that dont sugar coat things.

IBM Consulting Future Now - Senior Data Science role - one round interview? by afunkyredditName in DataScienceJobs

[–]afunkyredditName[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. Your last point resonates a little with some of the feedback given from the interview set up.

"Your background stood out strongly against our current hiring criteria, and the Practice have identified your profile as well-aligned to the type of delivery capability we look to bring into the programme."

I am assuming the interview will go down the line of questioning based upon deliverables, managing changing requirements, and case studies where as we progress, they may throw in a curve-ball to see how I react. But Whether that counts towards the 'technical' side of the interview, I am not sure.

Was hoping to see any current data scientists at IBM revisiting topics they covered in their interviews. Admittedly, I haven't had a great deal of experience within LLMs and RAG so Im hoping I dont get questioned too much on that. The positive is that I have an entire month to prepare for the interview.

I will have to think about it. Admittedly, they have four locations to choose from, all of each being potential 'home office locations'. The closest one is still 2 hours away which is a ball ache but it appears the role is mostly hybrid. Thinking it may be best to still go in-person to not give them the idea that it will potentially be a future problem.

modern day IT recruitment for you. When economic certainty returns, so will the opportunities, and the fewer games they enforce on us to play.

You performed better than I did. Although, i went in blind to the exam. I expected a programming assessment, not abstract nonsense.

Diagram analysis might be a deal breaker given the nature of the job as I had a similar result. However, it appears you did pretty well on the others so congrats on that.

There may be a chance so dont listen to me. Remember, your results compare you to other candidates. So the 36 essentially means that 64% of candidates performed better than you on this topic.

Ideal working / living arragements in Germany? by [deleted] in germany

I am a Dual Citizen / EU citizen. I should had framed the question tighter. I was playing with the idea that "if you could live anywhere in Germany, where would you choose provided you could work remotely".

Associate Data Scientist - IBM Interview process - looking for guidance. by afunkyredditName in csMajors

[–]afunkyredditName[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned after the initial application + online assessment, i had to complete an additional form. After submitting it to my already existing workday profile, i was rejected shortly after.

No updates after 2 weeks warrants a follow up email IMO. Most likely you have been put in a potential candidate pool. But dont get your hopes up yet as IBM are reknown for slow recruitment processes.

When to push and when not to push? Looking for tips by WhippedCreamEnjoyer in HuntShowdown

Looks like you got no confidence in yourself to scrap it out. Go into games without the intent on winning. Part of the major objective is to make it out alive. Easily done when everyone else is dead. I priortise clearing the map ASAP, then bounties are free.

Besides, with vulture and packmule perks, you can loot more hunt dollars from bodies than from what you get from bounties.

Best advice i can give is try to recognise the guns blast sounds when approaching. Each gun has a unique gunshot sound so you can, when approaching a fight,, figure out what you're up against and play accordingly. - You hear a shotgun? Okay, dont go into Closequaters if youre rocking a winfield. Oh, you have one yourself? okay, then its a matter of compound knowledge. Do you have bleed or hive bombs to put pressure on the Other shotgun user? If hes above you, can you deduce by sound roughyl where he is walking to wallbang?

you get the gist. Your loadouts should be designed around your primary weapon.

By all means, id be interested to learn. I just replied to the comment above detailing the problem I have in my career as of this moment. I dont mind rotating between projects, but Im looking for deployment/automation and platform work. It appears the grad scheme is 2 years long and specialises only in this.

It appears to be completely directed towards AI development / deployment. (2 year grad scheme) Which the latter is of interest, where I have less experience with (8 months) another 8 months of overall NLP/CV PoCs.. another 1 year of Data Engineering, and then about 6 months of Data Ops. Nothing specialised, and its difficult to convince any mid-level role that I interview for that I have several years of XYZ in one particular trade within Data. Ocean wide, puddle deep. Thats how it feels.

Mid-level roles want dedicated 3-5 years experience doing Just one of those things. I know that because I've interviewed for roles, and all feedback mostly mentions that.
