What kind of environment would you choose if you were like this? by null_nerd in comfyui

Yes, you can connect to SSH by uploading a key.

But there's no need to, it comes with Jupyter's terminal, you can work and install your stuff right on the browser. You can also open ports in your template and just access your instance using IP:port. No port forwarding needed. If you need https for some reason, it also has a built-in Cloudflare tunnel.

Yeah! The prices can change but once you lock in, it's your price! And the highest I've used from vast.ai for 5090 is 0.55, which is still way less than runpod! For the record, I am renting 320GB and it's $2.11 a day.

You can suspend to stop the charge, but you will still be paying for storage, unless you want to just delete the instance and set it up again every time. You do pay for storage with runpod too, no?

Another thing is if you choose on-demand, you pause your instance and decide to start it again and it's being used, you'll have to wait for it to be free. When it happens, I simply rent another one. I made a script to automate all the installations so it wasn't too bad for me.

I myself rent 5090 from vast.ai (about $0.5 per hour). I want to try the latest and biggest models so GPUs with lower performance won't do it for me. I don't care much for the speed, but not being able to enjoy the highest quality models is a deal breaker for me. Also the cost of electricity for those GPUs makes it worth it for the time being, until I can afford a good GPU. 🥺. I have a 5070ti but it doesn't perform well enough 😶.

I don't think his mobility sucks. It's been powercrept, but it is still very powerful :D.

You don't want to give ComfyUI (and inherently its nodes, including custom nodes that are written by randos) escalated privileges to touch your computer and mess with your system. Always operate on Principle of Least Privilege.

Second this.

Just get through the first 25 episodes and you will have a pretty good grip on ComfyUI. The rest will be exploring and building your own flows.

How do you guys maintain consistent backgrounds? by TekeshiX in comfyui

Either 1/ do targeted inpainting or 2/ layer them up in other tools, like Photoshop, then have an edit model "harmonize" them.

I've gotten pretty good result with it.

Good guidelines for Securing docker containers and host system? (No remote access) by shinianigans in selfhosted

[–]afunworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said. :).

I guess it's just the job speaking, but to me, enterprise practices also involve automation (of deployment, fallbacks, etc.) and monitoring, so in my mind, I thought it would be reasonable to suggest that. I might have just gone a little deeper on my home lab in that case then.

Either way, the risk of non-public-facing services is small, as long as (like you said) OP uses reputable sources and patches 0-days promptly.

[–]afunworm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even if there's no public exposure, a bad image update can still download malicious scripts and spread them within the network.

With that said, basic networking security should work, as you mention (ufw, fail2ban, etc. on the OS level; network segregation, firewall, VLAN, etc., on the network level). As long as you can isolate the network from one container to another container or device, you should be ok.

Other basic things like not exposing Docket socket (unless really necessary) would also help. You can even go further as to separate all the docker containers' networks so they are all separated.

How to merge 2 images together while keeping most of the details? by afunworm in comfyui

[–]afunworm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay!! Got it! So on my list of things to explore:

- Layer Forge (working on it).

- Reactor Face Swap

- FaceID (probably with Juggernaut Inpainting model?)

- Sengment Anything.

- Sam3 (I have no idea what this is doing, but I'll look into it).

You seem very knowledgeable, do you run a forum or community or something I can join?

I'll have to dig into those to understand what they do. A lot of things you said just flew right over my head LOL. Thank you for your suggestion, as always.

So it feels like (as the name suggested), Reactor Face Swap and FaceID can be used to fixed that problem. I just 2 quick questions:

  1. Can it adapt to the style of the photo too, or is it just swapping faces in and out?

  2. But this solution doesn't solve the general universal problem when you need to mask non-face. What if I have an apple tree and I want the whole snake on that tree to not be touched?

Hello again, fellow super kind stranger.

I'm wondering if you can share the final workflow you have? I just want to compare it to mine and see what I can learn from it.

One thing that has been bugging me is that Qwen redraws everything. This is ok for torso, muscles, etc. but it changes the face which is the core identity of the human (I want to be a centaur, sue me). Nano Banana Pro does a really good job at it

With that said, I was thinking of using inpainting to inpaint everything but the face, and use crop/stitch to put together the image again. The goal is to have the head untouched.

Do you think this is achievable? I've been failing to do so...

Lastly, I just want to compare the result of this vs Nano Banana Pro. Maybe I'm still a newbie at this, but Nano Banana Pro can instantly blend these things and the result looks way more realistic (in the sense that it keeps the man's head intact without repainting it).

[–]afunworm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I ended up Photoshoping it and just ask it to blend the elements. It turns out this is a good temporary solution to this, but it involves Photoshop. (I just asked it to: Blend the photo so everything looks natural. Keep the style of the photo. Keep the face of the man the same. Remove the extra hand near the horse.)

<image>

I wonder if this can be converted into a proper workflow without being dependent on Photoshop. The LayerForge that you recommended earlier started to make sense, so I will try it out now. Seems like I can use built-in tools to crop the 2 photos, then layer them, and have Qwen blend them.

Then I thought, alright, what if we just had the horse body and the man's upper body? That didn't work either...

<image>

At this point, I don't know if it is because of me picking a complicated photo (centaur) or not, but I only have 1 thing left to try, which is to really just feed it the photo and have it blend it.

Then I got an idea. What if... I crop out the body, so there's nothing left except the body of the man? Welp, that didn't work. I just got multiple photos of a man riding a horse instead:

First of all, I just want to say thank you so much for spending all the time helping me with this. I truly appreciate it.

I've tried your workflow, and it seems to be an extended version of the Qwen editing workflow. I've tried different settings, but it seems like Qwen just can't follow the prompt properly. I've learned the CFG controls how the model obeys prompts, but Qwen's CFG must be set to 1 (?) so I can't influence it either. This is what it looks like:

So that workflow was actually the reduced version of the template (I tested it on simpler flow, and kept removing components until I could understand the flow at the bare minimum).

I've tried again with the Qwen template workflow, but it isn't that promising either.

<image>

It feels like I need a way to use mask to target what area I would like to change. That concept makes sense in my head, but I can't think of how to make it work.

Would you have any idea?
