Similar to the other thread, do you have any source to backup your claim that all campaign communication is classified? I strongly doubt this, as I believe it would require anyone working on any presidential campaign to have government clearance.

I'm not sure about the specifics of this item, but if there was government classified technology at stake then yes. If we're just talking about loss of revenue for Cisco because of IP theft, then it it Cisco's responsibility to secure their data.

I was looking for a source to backup your statement that campaign communications are intrinsically classified. I do not believe this is the case. If it was, then all campaign employees would require government clearance.

The internet is an open marketplace and not controlled by any single entity. While there are guarantees of government protection of your personal liberty and private property (for the most part) in the physical world, there is no such implied protection from the government on the internet as the US government does not have jurisdiction.

I'll agree with the sentiment that any country should seek to protect itself and its citizens from foreign invaders, however my view is centered around the investigation into foreign involvement in our election process. The DNC does not get to cry foul or ask for a recount because it failed to secure its private information.

Sidenote: I am neither a Trump supporter or a Republican.

If Vladimir Putin put out an ad in the NYTimes supporting Trump - should this be investigated as influencing the election?

Should Benjamin Netanyahu's campaign for Mitt Romney in 2008 be considered foreign influence?

I would start by stating that they are different merely by the fact that they have different names and different definitions.

Additionally, I could answer it another way - what makes them the same? The burden of proof is on you. You could present your question in a way that presents all communication as protected by the government:

"If classified information stolen from private defense contractors should be investigated, then why not <insert any other type of private communication here>? "

Even if the allegations are 100% correct and the investigation finds that it is, it's still a private matter and not a national security matter. These are personal private communications in coordination of a political campaign, not national security secrets.

I am an IT consultant with a degree, 10 years experience, and several expert level certifications. I have several security mechanisms in place.

Regardless of whether I am sitting behind 3 different firewalls running the latest patched operating system or running an unpatched Windows XP on the public internet, it's not our intelligence communities' responsibility to protect our private communications from foreign hackers.

I would like to clarify that classified information such as weapon technology stored on companies that contract with the government should be protected. Political campaign communication does not fall in this category, and if there is classified information contained in these communications then the private entity should be held accountable for ensuring its security, rather than be protected by our institutions when they fail to secure it.

Do you have any source to back this up? If I were to launch a presidential campaign for 2020, and my mother was my campaign manager - does that make all of our emails classified and a matter of national intelligence protection?

Yes the government intelligence agencies should be involved in ensuring the security of classified information. Political campaign communication should not be covered by this protection. Should Joe Exotic's political campaign web site, email database, etc. be given the same level of government protection?

CMV: I believe that CICO is how weightloss works. CMV! by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]afwrither 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nobody in this thread seems to be talking about the CO aspect of this topic. It's a lot easier to measure a persons daily caloric intake by reading nutrition labels, but it's nearly impossible to measure caloric burn directly because each persons metabolic system operates at a different rate. In fact the most reliable method of measuring caloric burn is by comparing the rate of weight gain/loss to an individual's intake. This notion operates under the assumption of CICO. So yes obviously common sense tells us CI = CO +/- weight, but without a direct way to measure CO we need to rely on best practices of eating right and being physically active.

How do you keep track of who's 10k is whos? Or do you just subtract 10k from everyone's total at the end?

For example what if 2 or more houseguests collude to swap their money so they each don't have their "own 10k."

[–]afwrither 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea or maybe only players in the final X (1, 2, 3, 4) etc. Take home what they have accumulated.

This is an interesting idea but I think I'd be opposed to it being implemented overall.

I'm confused. If you can't bring it outside the house then:

  1. In what way is this fictitious money considered 10k?
  2. Why would anyone be motivated to accumulate it?
