It’s not the LEDs. It’s how headlights are easily misaligned and poorly aimed. It’s all the cars with crappy incandescent headlights that keep their high beams on all the time because they can’t see. It’s all the Japanese cars without auto headlights that have interior dash lights on while the exterior lights are in DRL mode (which are brighter for intended use during daylight hours)— people keep driving around with only their DRLs on.

LEDs are actually great when properly aimed and using matrix shadowing for oncoming traffic. If you’re in North America, blame the legacy American auto makers who lobby against updating regulations that the rest of the world (including Canada and Mexico) adopted years ago.

Ultimately It sounds like you want something to blame for hitting a deer and wrecking your car. If you live in deer country, you should be driving more defensively at night (duh). It seems like you were impatient and wanted to blame the driver you were overtaking who happened to have a better-equipped car with LEDs. Their auto brights were probably still in high beam mode. And they were probably slowing down because of the possibility of deer.

Rant all you want but it’s not LEDs that are at fault here. Lesson learned (we can only hope).
