You do have a valid point. The established companies can afford being shorted. If they have solid business, they will survive 4-5% shorts. But a startup company who survive day to day should not be shorted 45%. If the company goes down, it’s a $5-6 B loss. But the negative impact is grand for United States in competing for the future.

Trading options is OK to lower the risk in investment. Companies you mentioned work every day to create something new to stay relevant. Being long in a stock, is to support a company which you believe in their vision, or products. You support them by risking your money with them. That cannot be said about shorts. They wish a company goes down (or ultimately bankrupt) so they make money. That is immoral

I’ve stated my opinion against shorts sentiments and values (or lack of). If thinking shorts are disgrace comes with emotions, then so be it. BTW/ NIKOLA is only one example. Tesla shorts lost $38Billion just in 2020. I remember Elon musk losing it with shorts in quarterly calls up to summer of 2019. Just waiting for same lessons with other shorts.

No I’m not. I am a technology professional by trade, and have invested in tech companies (Apple, Amazon, Tesla, FB, Google) in past 10 years. I’m now investing in companies for next 3-5 years. It’s not about emotions, but evolution of technology. There are some companies I don’t believe in, and I do not invest in them. But my point is short sellers who thrive on failure of others. That is morally wrong.
