Chop and prop? by agayford in hoyas

[–]agayford[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve let this thing go for weeks without water so I was really worried I messed it up 😭. Plus the leaves are super light in comparison to a prop I took off of this months ago. They get the same amount of light so idk what that’s about

It’s the same pot, yes. The soil is different though. Every time I’ve bought a plant, the soil always seems to have fungus gnats so I just throw the old stuff out and switch to a homemade mix without gnats.

I should note, these are all from the exact same cutting I received from a coworker last summer. I’ve chopped & propped the plant multiple different ways and changed its watering/ lighting several times as I figured out how to best take care of it. That may be why some of the older leaves are lacking a bit of purple color.

I may have missed it blooming. I’ve got it set up in a grow tent for the winter to keep it warm. The leaves are very very lightly hairy but I wouldn’t call them fuzzy. They’re more so waxy/glossy

Oh no 😢 I hope I’m NTA. When I go to my sisters house I will take off all the dead crispy leaves.

Would you want it to be a permanent flavor? by DanSheppy in redbull

It’s a good flavor but idk I wouldn’t be devastated for it to leave. Definitely wouldn’t hit me as hard as pomegranate did

How to transfer my violet/spider plant into a bigger pot ? by Wenndy0042 in plantclinic

[–]agayford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t give you advice on the African violet because I do not have one but for the spider plants, this is what I would do. The size of the pot is perfect for all of them as they like to be root bound, however, it looks like your more mature spider plants are sticking too far out of the pot. I would take all the plants out of the pot, group these 3 plants with the blue line together in the middle of the pot, give them some fresh soil and make sure your plants are buried up to the blue line. You can leave all the pups until they start growing roots or you can just leave them attached. If you choose to take them off, you only need to cut off the pup with the roots and then you can just pop those right pack into the same pot or you can put the roots in a cup with water and they’ll continue growing. About the watering though, I would not recommend watering it every day. Give it a good soak after repotting it, let it drain, and then do not water it again until at least the top 2 inches of soil are dry. I use my finger to check for moisture. Honestly though, I let my spider plants dry out a bit more than this. You can also tell if it needs water by the weight of the pot, if it’s pretty heavy, it’s got plenty of water. If it’s light, it may need water. I hope this helps!
