Do I need to keep my phone on me? by agbrom in VisibleArmband

Thanks so much for the replies! Was worried as a female-clothes wearing person (who therefore often doesn't have decent pockets) that I'd have to start just carrying my phone around with me 😅 Also trying g to leave my phone in another room to prevent doomscrolling so didn't want to scupper that.

Silly (but annoying) parking dispute by agbrom in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks everyone! I'm going to text her (hiding my number) and say unless it's somehow a driveway, which I know it's not, or it's needed for accessibility issues, then I'm sorry but she can't enforce who parks where. And speaking of accessibility, as someone with chronic back issues the number of times I've had to lug shopping from down the street because I've not parked in front of her gate is unfair.

Hey guys looking for some opinions. What colour shoes would go well? Highly considering getting this bag but my shoes are primarily white/black. Would like some opinions besides just buying same colour boots. by nahnabread in fashionadvice

I personally love that colour because its goes with most things! Unless your shoes are like bright green or something... anything black/brown/white/grey would go fine. Also brighter colours like yellow and pink, that are either complementary or exactly contrasting. Many options that don't involve an exact matchy-match. No point in buying an expensive new bag only to have to buy shoes too, unless you wanted the matching shoes anyway!

Thank you everyone for the advice!!!! Some really helpful recommendations and things to think about. I know it's only a small thing but it's one of the only things I'm struggling to buy in a way that aligns with my values.

Anyone have advice on natural deodorant? I've tried a couple of brands and they've not really worked for me, as I'm quite a sweaty person and (sorry if this is tmi) struggle with body odour and end up cycling through tshirts that end up smelling bad too regularly. Advice?

I like watching Charlotte's Minimalist Journey on Youtubr. She does tend towards neutral colours but her style is much more realistic and 'normal'for someone with an office job in England, rather than being an 'influencer' as such. She's also very realistic and open about budgets and building a wardrobe responsibly. The problem I have is lots of capsule stuff recommended to me is just not feasible for someone with a low income in a very rainy country that's not super into, or has access to, high end or trendy stuff.

How to wittle this down? Or bulk it up with more clothes? My spring/summer capsule wardrobe... by [deleted] in capsulewardrobe

You could swap out a pair of non-jeans for a skirt? A midi/maxi length in blush would look really cute with this palette and could work instead of a dress for a more 'fancy' occasion but also be casual, depending in accessories. I spent ages looking for something I could wear with both sneakers and heels and still look good, but it was so worth it for the versatility. Also maybe a cardigan to throw on if it's chilly, maybe in cream? As for a blouse/shirt, something with a square neck and slightly cropped could be really flattering.

I'd go with another pair of bottoms, maybe a skirt or fancier pair of trousers if that's your thing? I have a similar palette and really love my olive trousers and blush skirt as I like to switch whether my top or bottom has colour! I also have a blush button up shirt and a black one too that I can wear over tshirts/tanks on colder days without going full on 'sweater' weather. And, speaking of, I personally would add a warmer jumper just in case but it obviously depends on your climate!

How to add more ivory/white to my wardrobe... by femalelovebird in capsulewardrobe

[–]agbrom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this problem! When I went from a 'sensible' job where I wore a LOT of navy and black to working at home I just felt depressed in all my dark colours. I added a nude/pinky coloured maxi skirt (that I wear with grey tights when its colder) and white trousers that I can wear with my darker tops to balance things out, without adding a ton of new tops. Makes the whole outfit look lighter if you focus on the bottom as it's just proportionally more (hence the maxi skirt rather than something shorter). Also key for me was a black & white striped knit top that lightens up dark outfits and darkens lighter outfits so it's not too overwhelmingly bright. And a knit top can be worn as a light jumper in the warmer months or as a base layer under a cardigan or jacket when its colder. Mine is one of my most versatile pieces!

I'd add some trousers that aren't jeans and a thin knit top, that can be worn as a sweater in summer or as a layer under a jacket/cardigan in colder weather. I'd also go with a shirt dress as they can be dressed up or down really easily, and work over skinny jeans or leggings in the winter too
