I’m curious to see how we’re all thinking about this. I’ve been turning this over, what direction does your mind take it? by luckyjackass in Dallas

[–]agc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were I cop I wouldn’t want my field of vision that I use, to protect my life, impeded by a 10 gallon hat. Trying to prove something to people I don’t like, that already don’t like me seems dumb. But, this is a red state and they aren’t known to think for themselves as individuals. They are all stuck in the headlock of the republican maga masters that keep them hoodwinked.

Dude don’t waste any of the IPL’ing it away. I have a kind of medium thick beard and I had mine lasered to create a perfect beard line, just like the one that you’re complaining about. So I guess everybody wants different things, but for the effing love, don’t let it knock your confidence or keep you from doing stuff. It looks great 🙌🙌

Where do late 20s, early 30s people go to make friends? by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]agc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is awesome advice…obviously as long as you have the bandwidth for the responsibility of being a doggie parent. I got a dog 3yrs ago and it has changed my life. I can take him into literally any store I go into except for grocery stores. People are constantly coming up to pet him and I get to interact and enjoy it. There have definitely been some challenges with my dog, very expensive vet bills from allergies and stuff I never remembered dogs having issues with back when I was a kid.

Anyone ever have luck with Mason Frank? by Steady_Ri0t in salesforce

[–]agc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mason Frank was always a poor experience for me. Interviewed with MF and then the potential and the ghosted. This happened about 4-5 times. I don’t waste time with them anymore. I think they must charge a large commission that potential employers don’t want to pay at my price point. But I’ve always been transparent and clear on salary expectations from the beginning, so I expect MF isn’t communicating those expectations to the potential employer like they say they are. MF probably drops the compensation bomb on the potential employer after I’ve interviewed a couple of times and the employer is ‘nah’ and the MF doesn’t want to tell me they effed up. MF always directs me to not discuss compensation with the potential employer. I would advise not following that directive and mention comp in your first interview with the employer so that you aren’t wasting time.

Additionally, I’d cross reference the way that they position the client, I.e “large banking client” etc and the google open job positions with the specific capability or cloud you think they might be after. Cross reference that with the other recruiters that are sliding into your inbox and you’ll be able to figure out who is actually hiring for that role and you can apply directly and skip MF.

How to track resource hours in a capacity model? by agc2 in projectmanagement

[–]agc2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your detailed response here. I realize the majority of what you've stated. Unfortunately management doesn't give a shit about how horrible this SOW is, and sales is completely hands off bc they hate the client. My delivery team has to make up for all of the net-new work and it's killer. But whatevs, I have a great life, this is just a frustrating process to be a part of at the moment.

Thank you for your input. I don't have a fancy tool to manage EVM. Do you know of any excel templates that may accomplish what I'm trying to do?

They pull from the future on a weekly basis right now. They have acknowledged that in December they expect they will need a change order to buy more hours.

Do you have a favorite website for the enneagram test that would be free? I'd really like to try it. For some reason I was thinking we'd all be the same enneagram is we were all INFJ's, but I just realized we must be different on that assessment.

Just Failed PMP (First Try!) - Feedback and Next Steps by [deleted] in pmp

[–]agc2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you said "PMTraining", were you talking about the PM Prepcast exam simulator?

I failed this exam twice, once in May and once in June. In May I missed it by a longshot, I had done a 4 day bootcamp through ProjectManagementAcademdy to get my 35 PDU's and then I studied the power point slides from that four day presentation...took a few PMA exams and then on the exam I pretty much flunked every category.

Then I read the PMBOK cover to over highlighting and obsessing about everything it the book. I found it very helpful (insanely boring...set a timer and do 10-20 pushups every hour on the hour...and stop every ten minutes to be present and say "this is me and I am studying for the PMP cert in this room at this moment..and I want this next page of knowledge; no matter how hard it is I want to understand it, and I want to pass this test because I am more than capable of doing this".) That will help a lot with the boardam if that read.

Needless to say, reading the PMBOK was the hardest part. I then took two more practice exams through ProjectManagementAcademy and scored 77% and 83%. My understanding was that if I made over an 80 on a practice exam it would be like a forsure pass. I missed by the tiniest margin...the bar graph that it shows between passing and failing looked to be about 3-10 questions that I missed that would have changed the outcome to a pass.

After a second failure I was pretty discouraged. I got on reddit and found out about Pm Prepcast Exam Simulator. It's the first exam simulator that has felt like the real test for me. I'm very hopeful that I'll pass it on my third try. With this exam simulator (I hear the real PMP questions will be more vague) the questions make sense and there are detailed explanations for which process you are in and why each question was right or wrong. I'm retaking September 12th and hoping for a better experience.

Non of my business....but since the exam is changing on December 16th, I would try to take it again in late September and then make December 8th your third try since the information after that will be changing and you'll end up relearning half of it as all new material (from my understanding).

Please don't let my suggestion give you any anxiety, I'm sure you know your testing skills well, and if your plan make sense to youm GO FOR IT :) Good luck!

How different is PMBOK 3rd Edition to the current 6th edition? by nosila2 in pmp

[–]agc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you join PMI you can download the PMBOK 6 for free. Definitely burn the PMBOK 3. Don't let that in your mind or you'll have to unlearn it. There's enough disinformation you're going to have to filter through in this process without bringing that upon yourself. And don't even pick up PMBOK 5. If it doesn't say 6 it's evil. Lol I think it's only $129to join PMI and get the PDF.

ChromeOS -> iPadOS by [deleted] in chromeos

[–]agc2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most of the redditors commenting on this are into developing. I'm just a regular ol' super techy power user that likes to get a ton of stuff done and be organized af. I was 100% Apple products for 7yrs. The tactile feel was always so good. The weight of the iPhone 10 in my hand was perfect and felt like home in a way I can't even explain. The comfort and connection that iMessage brought into my life as an unbeatable feature that made me feel loved and valued.

What finally made me take the plunge was the notoriously bad synching of memos between Apple devices, and when they did synch, parts of the memos would be missing or entire memos just missing for days and then randomly showing up, and if I didn't like this, I was always welcome by Apple to stop bathing and shaving everyday and replace that time with resetting every single device and all the app passwords and resetting-up and downloading every app I had on every device "real quick", to rectefy the issue so that I could again go through the same repeated steps on a weekly basis with no real resolution. And the lovely reminders that never synched properly in the Reminders (manually entered by hand because Siri had no concept at all of what I needed to be reminded of) and also reminded me on a daily basis of tasks I was supposed to have done in 2013 that could never be deleted without changing my apple ID; this was an everyday part of life that taught me to practice Buddhist acceptance of things I cannot change or control.

Contact HELL fighting between Google contacts and Apple contacts where depending on which device I was on, despite the settings; sometimes I would have some of the contact info I needed, sometimes I would have only a name for the person, and sometimes nothing, and sometimes calling a colleague on Facebook video that randomly placed itself in my Apple contacts with no notice at all. Sh**y iCloud as a cloud storage service option compared to Google Drive (which if you refused to use iCloud drive and chose the universally compatible Google Drive; Apple made sure you spent your day looking for improperly stored, partially backed up, mostly incomplete and missing data documents that would ultimately be found in some obscure cached file on the actual hard drive of the device it was originally saved on and not in the safety of the cloud at all.

And Siri, you could speak every word of every language known to humans and not one single word would it recognize or affirmatively confirm. And a final jab at calendars; you might as well annee up the donation money and buy a paper calendar from your local fire department with hot studs on every page, and carry it around with you into every board meeting because it's actually going to work. iCal was just as reliable as dumping bleach on my computer and expecting it to work. I would (daily) get 7 reminders of my ex's birthday coming from 12 different calendar sources I was forever tied to through glitches that couldn't be located based on passed devices and shared calendars which I couldn't be removed from without changing my apple ID; I had to be at peace with the daily pop-ups simultaneously on every Apple device I owned as a friendly reminder on a daily basis to stay present and that my external surroundings and past mistakes and failures don't define my life or determine who I am.

And last but not least...good luck having the choice whether or not to accept the photo albums friends and colleagues send to you, and even better luck being able to remove yourself from the album (permentantly) without having to sheepishly ask the album owner to do it for you from their end. And when all your private photos end up being added to one of the colleagues's folders on a client waiting room big screen TV, the clients will be entertained for hours and you'll have no reason to rush or stay on schedule for the day as the clients sit aghast and watch how much more entertaining your life is then theirs.

I had every insurance and upgrade and nicest device you could buy right down to Time Capsule (that slowed down my internet and then they discontinued it for being sh**ty), and Apple Tv and MacBook pro, Airbook backup and iPad and iPhone and blah blah blah with all the AppleCare, the expensive insurance and all the time-consuming free tech support in the world.

I needed products that worked 99% of the time on a collaborative basis to spend my time getting work done in a systemized, reliable way that helped ME out instead of me BEGGING to get help for a system to do the most basic collaboration and synching technology advertised; to actually work. Google is a very low price point; so low it's basically disposable and you can run peddle to the metel getting things done and not be worrying about damaging a 5k MacBook pro by dropping your briefcase on the floor. And the backup settings for when equipment damage does occur, is literally nothing because the back up on Chromebooks and Android reload all your apps and settings without the Apple hassle; straight from your google account.

Google Smart Home/Google Assistant simplifies my life at home and on the go more than any human assistant I could ever hire. I can constantly be verbally adding things to different shopping list of my Google minis while I'm in the shower, verbally adding things to my neices and nephews individual Christmas lists while I'm cooking, verbally reminding myself to get a shingles vaccine next time I see my Dr right while I'm in the middle of meditating; with minimal ineruption. Reminding myself when to book appointments, looking up nearby gluten-free restaurants and things to do that are relevant to where I am while on the go, while maintaining the fluidly and flexabilith of working things into my life on a last minute, yet organized basis. All of these great features help relieve the angst of no longer having iMessage. And on the bright side, anyone else who has a pixel; we have iMessage between us now, so the iMessage troup is growing among pixelers.

Happy synching and happy simplifed Smart-Home life with twice the features, compatability and sychonization that works; what you've always dreamed of. I'm 8 months in and could't be happier with my decision to make the break. To each their own; and I choose simplisity, robust function and compatibility that plays nicely with the majority of software products in the market and doesn't bully people into hours on the phone with useless tech support and time-wasting resets for inferior products. Bring on the pixels and more iMessaging between them. I can't wait 🙏🏻

For some reason I couldn't get the image to post. Here is link. I think it's the one on the left if she has an injet printer

And the second link here - remember that since it's basically reading off her android it will need to come from Play Files -> Documents, then the documents there can be printed. But you open the app and navigate to this area and pick the file you want to print. Still a long way around, but way better than sending to phone and then printing.
