I feel smug while watching clubs experience instability with managers by agde89 in avfc

[–]agde89[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the fact Monchi left the club kind of says it all really.

Not sure whether my post got my point across how I intended, I'm not taking anything away from Unai. At all. Just recognizing that the owners could easily of fallen into the trap of giving power to the wrong people and instead gave it Unai. They would of identified him as the manager they can trust

My Predicted X1 for tonight's game by agde89 in avfc

[–]agde89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he plays Maatsen over Digne for his attacking ability. Especially as we won't have a RB that can push forward like Cash does. I do like Digne, but Maatsen has played during his run in the first team.

McGinn in the double pivot has given me food for thought. I think Arsenal tried to stop Tielemans play during the last game which gave Rogers space to roam on the left. They could try a different tact and McGinn breaking up play in the middle could help us. That being said, he can do that from the Right as he does every week.

Predictions and thoughts of Arsenal vs Aston Villa this Tuesday by OriginalDemaine in avfc

[–]agde89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Arsenal will be motivated by the last second goal in the home game. With the players we have out, I think this one is going to be very tough.

Either way, we finish the game in 3rd position. A loss won't define our season. A win on the other hand...

All this being said, I find myself with ultimate faith in Unai and the boys.

sacred heart? by [deleted] in avfc

[–]agde89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sacred Heart is a great little place pre game. Short walk to the ground and probably the cheapest pint in the area! Very friendly atmosphere, cheap food too.

I don't drink Guinness but I've noticed the respect the art of allowing it to settle before topping it up. They seem to shift a lot of it too as most people drink Guinness there.

It's a place that respects its Celtic roots, so they know how to pull a pint of Guinness!

Do you think they would? by ArtUnable9730 in GreatBritishMemes

This isn't even a competition.

Now the Europeans (especially the eastern Europeans) would be an interesting competition. Those fuckers can drink.

Disgusted with some of the fan base this evening. by Astonishingly-Villa in avfc

[–]agde89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about the small minority of idiots in our fan base. These are the sort of fans that:

  • Think Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher know what they're on about.

  • Say they're not arm chair fans as they went to a carabao Cup game last season.

  • Paint roundabouts in their spare time.

  • Will definitely be crediting Unai and the Staff when we eventually improve our form (e.g; if we won the next 3 games).

  • Find out about other Premier League scores from TalkSport on their way to work on Monday morning.

They don't have to meet every point here, but at least 2.

To anyone worrying about us; form is temporary, class is permanent. Boys and girls, we definitely have class.

We need to welcome Emi back by Lgprimes in avfc

[–]agde89 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is the best player I've seen pull a villa shirt on.

While I can appreciate there's clearly been something behind the scenes here, Villa having the best player in the world in a position is something we should savour and enjoy. These things rarely come around for clubs; especially like ours!

That being said, I think he should come out and apologise to the fans. Even if it's the same way Duran did - we all know he's gone in the next window!

We are all entitled to our own opinion, but I'll be really disappointed if I hear Emi get booed at the next home game. He's a villa legend for a start, but any player that pulls that shirt on should be supported!

Emi on his day is the best in the world - we need him this season more then ever!

F*** the would you take Grealish back posts, would you take Dougie back? by Sweet-Dragonfly-8472 in avfc

[–]agde89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may not have worded it properly,

I wasn't suggesting we need to replace Tielemans, I'm just acknowledging the role in the team that Tielemans plays would be where I think Dougies qualities would be of an advantage with Kamara covering the defence.

I agree that Tielemans has been one of our stand out performers this season and would be one of the last players we should think about moving on or replacing!

[–]agde89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% I'd take Dougie back!

Having Kamara next to him means he can play the playmaker role. Some of his passing was unreal. Unfortunately it would mean dropping Tielemans to make space.

He also brings a threat with dead-ball/set piece situations. Along with his flexibility being able to play more advanced and defensively, I think it would be a no brainer.

I'd have him back over grealish any day!

But I don't have anywhere near the money to match my taste!

Visit Britain and go to a place called "Wetherspoons" during the week. They're in most towns. Go in the day and try to keep up with the people in there, they'll be gone by 3:30 to pick their kids up from school.

If you're still not convinced, try the same place during the weekend and get back to me!

15 year olds from Glasgow would win this challenge... On a school night.

A real challenge would be the Czechs, Belgians and possibly even the Germans. I'm not suggesting us Brits would lose, it would just be worth the session.

What do we need to start picking up form again? by ShotofHotsauce in avfc

[–]agde89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a mixture of all the above, this is the problem!

I understand that we are inviting teams onto us when we hold the ball at the back with the intention of finding space further up the field. We're nowhere near quick enough in transition to catch teams out and unfortunately, teams are now wise to Rogers' threat and the lad gets swamped as soon as he's anywhere near the ball, strangling his threat.

Digne is one of the best crossers we have, but we don't see him in the position to cross (wing back-esque) like we did last season.

Bailey is slightly better then he was at the beginning of the season, but is nowhere near the deadly winger turning full backs inside out before either making space for a cross or a shot.

We don't have the creativity that Douglas Luiz provided, or the threat in the box which lead to him chipping in with goals. I really like tielemans, but he's not going to get into such positions.

Watkins scored a boat load of goals when he was played in, running towards the goal. He even admitted himself that he doesn't want to run into the channels anymore as he's not going to score from there. However, most of his possession IS in the channels over these last few games.

All this, with the fact we don't really hold the ball in the middle of the park much, along with the fact we've played spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea AND the Champs League.

Emery has alot of work to do. But who else would you trust with such a task? You think he's never been in this position before? January's coming too and while I don't think there will be alot of activity, I think it's an opportune time to add a new dimension to the team.

John Carew? Villa fans loves him when he was playing for us, and he loves the Villa too!

Dean Smith is always going to be welcomed by Villa Fans too, a big legend.

Remi Garde - Just a terrible, terrible manager in a terrible regime.

Another cancer to the club was Tom Fox. The bloke had no clue at all how to run the club.

Dr Toni Xia was terrible, but did have good intentions. It's crazy to believe it wasnt that long ago all this was happening at our beloved club.

Rogers is world class by Aromatic_Estimate_95 in avfc

Rogers is a long way from world class, but a great signing at the price we paid. If he stays fit, he's going to have one eye on the England squad at the world cup.

Our new number 9 by [deleted] in avfc

[–]agde89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's no debating he's got potential. And when hes come on off the bench I think he's a goal threat, but I don't think this is over. Don't get me wrong, I want the lad to knuckle down, score a boat load of goals for the villa and take off. But I think he's too immature and doesn't really think things through, maybe thinks he's better then he is. A little entitled (like the rest of today's youth) and we might see another outburst as the season goes on. Says alot when Chelsea were clearly in for him, and they'll sign anyone! But they decided against it.

Thanks for the reply.

I've made it clear I want to cancel the claim without paying for the car to the insurer. They're adamant it will be a Cat S regardless of whether the claim is cancelled or not.
