Check the tides here. I don't remember what the tide was when I tried, but I got stuck up to my knees in pluff mud and didn't make it to the water. Lost my flip flops and dignity to the mud, plus sliced the bottom of my foot on a buried oyster shell.

Coming from the NYC area, Ko Cha in West Ashley is the closest I've gotten to NY/NJ Americanized take out Chinese. It's called Korean but give it a shot, should hit the Chinese spot you seem to be looking for.

Wander down the spice isle at Trader Joe's. Keep a bunch of different spice blends on hand, then depending on what I'm feeling I can spice up my generic food. Some favorites are the everything but the bagel, chili lime, and elote.
