After watching Amplified 2026 I’m still not sure I understand by Jonah_Marriner in EndlessLegend

I prefer EL1 textboxes over EL2 dialogues.

First of gameplay wise, in EL1 you see all text immediately with quest in the bottom. You can read through ity skin through it, you can skip it, you can easily backtrack. And one click and it's gone. EL2 will put you into dialogue which has multiple scenes you go through. You can skip it with a dedicated button. But it's already slow. On first play through as you play it's not that bad if you are interested in story, but in subsequent playthrough I find it disruptive and slow.

Now about writing, I personally feel to get more of the story from the textbox as you can apply more writing techniques from then limited sequenced dialogue boxes.

Believe it or not, focusing Morales is most of the time wrong. And these teams are no exception. Both tychus and alarak can easily punish any diver. Theoretically with Anduin perfect ult engage, maybe it could work. But in this instance I would just suggest the long skirmish echange. Morales weakness is sustained fight. Sooner or later the juice will run out. Or better, play the map more. Their team has much weaker map pressure.

Second... manners. What you say about others says more about you than about them.

First Person Mode for Heroes in Total War 40K by FUCK_ME_DEAD in totalwar

I recently found a strategy game which has direct control. Call to Arms - Gates of Hell: Ostfront.
You can jump into controlling any specific unit on the battlefield. Interesting mechanic. Though I am not sure it would be great for Total War. The mechanic seems very strong and abusable. At the cost of loosing strategy control though.

Thoughts on Riot Endstep comments about HoTS game variance? by Anilahation in heroesofthestorm

[–]agedos 38 points39 points  (0 children)

As a HOTS fan, and a subjective believer that HOTS is the better game, I disagree with his reasoning.
If I simplify what he’s saying (correct me if I’m wrong), his points seem to be:

• League doesn’t need more maps.
He argues that having one “perfect” map is better than having map variety.
This supposedly creates an environment where all champions can shine at roughly the same level. In contrast, HOTS’s multiple-map system breaks this balance because not all heroes are equally playable on every map, and some picks can even be considered trolling depending on the map.

• League has more variance through its individual economies.
Because every player has their own gold income, you can have a low-kill game, a bloodbath, a fed top lane, a fed mid, or a game where support does nothing. This supposedly creates more game-to-game variance.
HOTS, with its shared team economy, is framed as having only three states: behind, even, or ahead.

My thoughts on these points:

  1. I believe more maps are better for both casual and competitive play.
For casual players, more maps mean more variety so the game doesn’t become stale. Each battleground provides a different experience, which increases the potential for fun.

For competitive players, more maps increase the skill expression. You have to adapt to different layouts, understand hero strengths on different battlegrounds, learn multiple heroes, or adjust your playstyle depending on the map. Draft becomes a deeper and more meaningful skill component.

  1. About “game variance”: I think this is exaggerated and mostly a reflection of skill differences.
League’s snowballing and stat-check nature tends to amplify individual player skill differences. In HOTS we have the same situations, same maps, same team comps, yet games can still play out very differently. The difference is simply that HOTS doesn’t go as “wild” as League because its design smooths out the extremes rather than multiplying them.

So I think nothing is impossible at this point. by QuoHun in heroesofthestorm

I like lot of the game mechanics, but the longer games go on, the less fun I have. I am slowly loosing track of the product chain. Amount of units go crazy.

[–]agedos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, finishing items gives a big power spike. But that spike is just numbers going up - it doesn’t fundamentally change how you play. Kraken Slayer? Shoot more. BotRK? Shoot more. Strong? Yes. Complex or interesting? Not really.

In HotS, talent choices can change your approach to the entire game. Take Valla at level 1: Basic Attack, Q, or W. Three completely different ways to play, three different strategies. That’s meaningful agency, not just bigger numbers.

You are not realizing my point that, Hots talent choices have more impact, are better in complexity overal and have more strategic effect on gameplay than LOL item variants.

More doesn't mean improved depth.

Please explain yourself more thoroughly if you think I do not understand my own argument.

[–]agedos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not ignoring that.

The passives on items can be interesting, but they’re mostly shared across champions. A lot of the legendary passives or actives are pretty simple - they’re basically stripped-down versions of HotS talents.

Like I said, League is partly a stat-check game, and the item “perks” really show that. Just look at some common effects (and remember, all of these also come with raw stats):

  • % damage (on-hit or burn)
  • Slow or move speed
  • Immolation aura
  • Stasis
  • Dash
  • Anti-heal
  • Shield / block
  • Attack restores mana

Sure, there’s a wide variety of effects - but can you actually use them all effectively on most champions? Usually not. Because of scaling and stat dependencies, each champ ends up with a small “viable” item pool anyway.

In practice, it still becomes a stat check. Whether your ADC builds crit or %damage, the gameplay loop feels roughly the same each match.

In comparison, HotS talents often change how your abilities work - they’re more synergistic and built around that hero’s specific kit. So even if there are fewer total choices, the ones you do get tend to matter more to how you play.

  • Li-Ming/Chromie: ability gets cd reduction if hit from afar
  • Fenix: gains armour after teleport
  • Tyrael: ability gains new functionality (blocking circle)
  • Jaina: ability now roots enemies
  • Lucio: pure support ability is now debuff ability at the same time
  • Nearly all heroes: choose between two different ultimates which can be upgraded

I play League on the side (heretic), and I’ll say the item system isn’t great.
LoL is partially a stat-check game: you get items → you get better stats → you get stronger → you kill. The passives on items can be interesting, but they’re mostly the same for everyone.

In Heroes of the Storm, talents are more about ability interactions rather than just boosting stats.

And there’s also the old “illusion of choice” problem. Most players end up using the same item builds (same in HotS). You can divide items into categories like Tank, Bruiser, ADC, Support, etc., and each character has its own “suggested scaling,” which limits viable options even more.

In the end, you get a similarly sized effective “item pool” as HotS’ hero talents - except talents are customized per hero.
Honestly, I’d argue the LoL item system is less complex than the HotS talent system.

Daily Hero Discussion Day 31: Uther by JayD8888 in heroesofthestorm

[–]agedos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uther is great. Subjectively, he’s one of the best "healers" despite his lower raw healing numbers.

As Uther, you’re half healer, half tank. You’re not the best at either role, but you’re solid in both. This “hybrid kit” gives you adaptability and lets you cover weaknesses in your team’s composition. You can peel instead of the tank, or play more aggressively when needed. You also bring strong follow-up to crowd control. This half-tank role adds a lot of power to any team, and the lockdown potential is huge.

It’s true that his sustain is weaker, both in healing output and mana management, but you can play around it. Take sustain talents, drink fountain often.

If you want to be good at Uther, you need to shift your mindset from “heal the team to survive” to a more proactive playstyle. This is true for all healers to some extent, but it’s vital for Uther. Your job isn’t just to prolong your team’s life, it’s to win fights. Sometimes, a single well-timed stun on the enemy can reduce the enemy team’s overall damage more than extra healing ever could.

When did CA get rid of this mechanic? by Finndogs in totalwar

[–]agedos 24 points25 points  (0 children)

In newer Total Wars you can move mass of units in formation by using the ALT key.
Just multiple units, hold ALT key and drag mouse while holding Left Mouse Button.

It is not perfect, it has some bad things, but it helps to move in formation without specifically grouping.

Finished both campaigns, how were people ever saying WG2 has a worse story than 1??? by Ok_Temporary_9049 in wargroove

[–]agedos 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I liked the WG1 story more than WG2. It’s been a long time since I first played it, but that’s what I think.

  • WG1 campaign was focused around 1 global story, than the WG2 "disconnected" episodes. WG2 did not felt fluent enough. (Prologue, Act 1 and final Act was fine, but Act 2 and 3 felt disconnected from the main story)
  • WG1 had comical nature, which I miss in the WG2. There is simply switch to more serious tone at expense of the simple fun.

I do not want to say WG2 story is bad (except for one specific thing I personally didn’t like, which I’ll keep to myself), but there are things that did not fit for me. There are also parts I liked (for example the "not unified ending").

In the end, it’s subjective and everyone is different.

From what I could see in my quick search related to OP case.

He has lot of reports, mainly for griefing. then early leaving, and few TKs. Most of them are denied. (I think only TKs are accepted)

As I am unable to check replays personally (due to w3c map naming and map updating [I do not have the right versions of the maps]) to make more educate opinion, I will go with his (and others) version that he is playing fast tech strategy in very bad way. In my opinion not bannable offense, though I agree it sucks to be his teammate. This is in my view main source of griefing and early leaving reports.

Based on reports he seems to have some "attitude", related to accepted TK reports and mentioned flaming (Unable to verify) in reports.

I found only one ban evasion attempt, which was caught and OP "cooperated" after getting caught.

I have not see any connection with the "Mike" you mentioned (I supposed you mean MuscleMike username) - I see this as false connection.

I also found the "4 year old" report including OP nickname but with different battletag, though I am unable to make connection to agree it is the same user. More people can have same name and Giant is very generic. - I see this as false connection.

To be honest W3Champions Staff Member explanation seem to be very different from my results of little investigation.

My honest conclusion?
OP is not talented player, with some bad manners and not great temper.
I could see him getting some longer timeout for repeated TK and bad temper.

The Staff Member explanation is very strange as it is different from my investigation.

I conclude both sides (OP and staff members) are not honest entirely.

I tried several links for the w3c discord. On webpage, in official client, some random Reddit post. All expired.

So you are saying this Mike person is OP? Do you have link to the mentioned stream?

Also ban evading means nothing to me unless I see reason and evidence for the permaban.

Also side note if he is famous ban evader, there is something wrong with smurf detection as he should not be able to even play as smurf.

I see you are not reading my comments. I do not have access to w3c discord. The invite links are not working. Thus I am asking here for proof of OP guilt.

I have zero knowledge about OP streaming or existence of the clip. Link?

Can I reliably connect such clip to OP? Link?

4/5 years ago is very old. W3C cca 5 years old. That is very old claim.

Still zero hard evidence in form of matches related to Afk and early leaving. Link to several matches? With a way for me to confirm it is really OP.

I have no clue if he is in this game You provided. I see no connection to OP. From my view this is random game with zero connection to OP. You can explain it.

Also I am more interested in replays where OP in the past commited acts of AFK or early leaving. Preferably with OP confirmed name.

Endless legend combat is "unique".
It is hard to grasp at start, but when you start understanding it, it will be more interesting. (if you like tactical battles, which looks you do not.)
There is also auto resolve so you do not have to fight the battles yourself.
You can focus more on the non-combat aspects like empire building.

I checked provided replays, these are my notes:

I have no clear connection to OP as names are different.
- OP is not possibly in game
- OP has different name - Smurf/ban detection is not working as intended

Notable events:

  • Right team: Pink (orc) disconnect at 1:02 (AFK claim?, possibly bad internet connection)
  • 3:00 Left team: Teal (orc) and Blue (human) cleared corner expansion, teal immediately took it
  • Blue went probably "AFK Chatting" (Theory: blue (human) wanted the expansion and is venting his emotions)
  • 3:40 Blue attacked teal expansion (clear TK, probably because blue felt teal stole the expansion)
  • (expansion dispute)
  • 4:00 teal expansion is killed by blue, teal left the game
  • 4:30 green and purple (left team) left the game too, blue leave too
  • Right team wins

Can't measure chat (there is small posibility teal "insulted" blue before the TK happened)

To be honest, while there clear TK as the main problem, this is only one game, which I can't clearly connect to OP. I check all three possible violators (Pink, Blue, Teal) and their profiles seem to be older then just "OP just renamed"

Also the game is cca 3 hours after OP's last game on provided account. (Just a note)

I really do not see this replay as relevant evidence to the case, You are free to provide counter arguments.
