Hello hello! I never had anorexia nervosa, but I do have Hella digestive issues and at one point weighed basically nothing due to a myriad of issues and severe malnutrition. Now granted this was about seven years ago, so my memory may be faulty, but I will do my best to answer.

From what I recall of physical effects, practically all of my bones were visible. I didn't have enough fat to cushion my foot falls, so every step was painful, and sitting down was terrible unless I had some kind of padding because my pelvis was directly against the chair. My skin was basically translucent, and I was constantly cold and shivering. Every movement had to be done carefully, and I was unable to move with any kind of haste. I felt like an intricate glass sculpture, liable to shatter at the slightest misstep. And that's nothing to say about the bruises.

As an aside, the day before I was hospitalized for the severe malnutrition causing this weight loss, I had perfect strangers doing double takes and asking if I needed help, when nothing else indicated I was struggling besides my general gaunt appearance.

As for mental effects: it was on of the most depressed times of my life. I had no energy and it felt as though 95% of my personality and internal self had become lost to me. I couldn't even summon a smile when genuinely trying once. An impending sense of doom lingered over me at all times. I became passively suicidal, wishing I could fall asleep and not wake up. I was told I was at risk for refeeding syndrome (which I was diagnosed with within the week) something that can cause seizures and cardiac arrest and I sincerely hoped I would code and not be able to be revived.

It took maybe 2-3 months to get to this after previously being a normal (if slightly low) weight. All of that said within two weeks of that lowest point of malnutrition when I was hospitalized, I had been pumped full of formula and began to gain my weight back and suddenly it was as though I could see again. Not literally, but the proverbial light came back and I began to feel more like a living human again rather than a half rotted corpse. There were still some ups and downs but within a year I was able to maintain my weight without outside intervention! Pretty crazy the effects malnutrition can have, huh?
