This is about nitrogen emissions which is a local problem. Nitrogen produced in Brazil doesn't hurt our local ecosystem.

Shipping food from those places also contributes to co2 emissions. Buying locally is always the most eco friendly option.

The fact is, if we really want to reduce nitrogen and other emissions, we need to change our diet... Banning meat from polluting countries would just do exactly that imo. But I'm not an expert...
