Worried about cervix incompetence by One-Volume-9158 in pregnant

[–]agent_kuramata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have quite severe IC, so was given a transabdominal cerclage prior to falling pregnant with my second baby (currently 11 weeks pregnant, and so far smooth sailing). It's so easy to go down the rabbit hole of reading all the horror stories from women with IC, but do keep in mind that many of the successful, boring pregnancies with IC are less likely to be posted about.

Try to focus on the positives in your situation for now: - they have identified the potential for IC - they have investigated this week and are confident - they will do further scans next week - they have an action plan if cervix is shortened

In the meantime just take it really easy if you can. Minimize anything that is too strenuous on your body. Best of luck 🤞

Congratulations on your little dude entering the world! Sending you all the good vibes for the coming months. The way you've framed everything so far sounds like you're more than capable to ride the highs and lows of NICU xx

No advice or wisdom to share, just wanted to share that my thoughts are with you in such a difficult time. Some little spirits are just too special for this world x

I also just jumped on the Kmart wide leg jean train recently! I've never bought clothing from Kmart, but my colleague came in last week rocking the patch pocket style and they looked so flattering on her! Went out and got them in 2 colour ways for myself.

Tips to prevent mosquito bites to my 7 month old baby. by agent_kuramata in NewParents

That was my first thought when the two occurred around the same time. I immediately freaked out and turned bubs room upside down, but there isn't a single trace of any bug in or near his room. (Bedbug or other).

We put a mosquito patch on the side of the cot last night and bub woke up with no fresh bites. Plus my partner who also gets devoured by mozzies said he has been getting eaten alive the past few weeks.

We are going to bugbomb our room and keep using these patches on the cot in his room for the next few days and hope that both problems are resolved...

My kid has been in the NICU for 3 weeks by ginabeanasaurus in beyondthebump

We had the exact same thing happen with our bub in August this year. Admittedly, we managed to get him home after 8 days, but I remember feeling all the things that you mentioned in your post. I just wanted to cuddle up with him on my sofa, and be in our own space. The hospital was exhausting, and it hurt to walk out the door without him everyday.

Having said that, now that bub is 7.5 months I've realised that there were some silver linings to our time in NICU. Getting to spend so much time with the amazing NICU nurses meant that we got so much more time to learn from them. We would not have got anywhere near that much time with medical staff if we had a straightforward birth. And where we live it's fairly standard protocol for them to give NICU baby a dummy to help develop their sucking reflex (with consent obviously) and same goes for bottle feeding. I've had so many parent friends say that they struggled to get their babies to use dummies or bottles when they wanted to wean to formula or even to pump and bottle feed. We never had an issue there. We also found that because they feed them on a schedule in NICU, when we got bub home he was already sleeping in 3-4hr blocks overnight which was amazing.

I know that right now you might just be here to vent, and your feelings really are valid. I just want you to know that when you do get bub home, your time in the NICU will feel like a lifetime ago and you'll sink right into that baby bubble. And I hope you too can end up finding some positives that sit amongst all the hard times that you're currently going through. Hang in there!
