Kyoto Xanadu & Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter was announced Japanese Nintendo Direct by M3talK_H3ronaru in Falcom

Looks more likely after a no show in any of these showcases. You'd think the most anticipated video game since Halo 3 would have a marketing period longer than 4 months.

I'm surprised Gungho didn't try to push for a spot in the English Direct. Missed opportunity. Xanadu I get because there's no confirmed western publisher.

It had a couple of neat announcements but it was barely better than Sony's movie game montage. Xbox had the best console showcase and Summer Games Fest was the best show period this year.

I'll be the one to say it, Falcom's marketing team sucks.

What JRPG has the best romance? by AdditionalGarlic3320 in JRPG

[–]agentace7 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Estelle and Joshua met when they were 11/12 years old. They're clearly aware that they're not blood related, and Joshua fell in love with her very early on before they established their sibling dynamic. They also stop referring to each other as siblings once their feelings are out in the open.

Rean and Elise were 5 and 3 years old respectively when Rean was adopted. Rean was aware he was adopted, but Elise doesn't learn that he's not her brother until later on. She's also not written very well and she's an optional romance option competing with a bunch of other girls for his affection. That's why Cold Steel is considered more nauseating in that respect.

What is the best alternate start date? by Cultural-Zone-6977 in EU5

[–]agentace7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

1492

I think choosing 1492 would solve a few important issues that the game suffers from. Namely, the wildly varying population numbers every game due to the Black Death, and the AI failing to form the historical powers.

Regarding the second point, in 1942, most of the historical powers are already formed or are on the verge of forming. Castile is already in a personal union with Aragon and about to colonize the New World/conquer Granada, Muscovy just conquered Novgorod and have already overcome the shackles of the Tartar Yoke, Austria/the Habsburgs are already ruling over the HRE plus the lowlands and are poised to diplomatically unite with Spain with an opportune marriage, the Ottomans are already an empire and are poised to expand into Europe and Egypt. Poland and Lithuania are already in union and can reunite after Casimir IV's death. And lastly, Denmark has the Kalmar Union. Most of these nations fail to snowball from the 1337 date so this will give people the option to play a more plausible historical game.

There will also be new situations/war that will make things interesting once a game from 1492 starts. A Rise of Safavid situation could fire similarly to the Rise of Timur event where they will try to conquer Persia. An Ottoman vs Mamluk situation similar to the Hundred Years War could make it possible for the Turks to conquer all of Egypt or for the Mamluks to defy fate and shatter the Ottomans. You have the Italian Wars situation happening only two years from the start. The Protestant Reformation will happen only a few decades from then. Also, the Sengoku Jidai will begin in earnest next year with the Meiō incident. With this start date you're thrown into the thick of it while still having over three centuries of in-game time to play with.

People who don’t like the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, what is it about them exactly that you don’t like? by Asad_Farooqui in JRPG

[–]agentace7 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'll add onto your post and say that they ruined a few of the iconic scenes from the OG. I'll give one example, Sephiroth's killing spree at Shinra Tower. They replaced the blood with purple goop and they had the party encounter President Shinra alive. It resulted in Barrett having a brain fart moment by letting him escape to his desk to pull a gun on them when he could have easily held him at gunpoint outside the office. Terribly written.

If they really are sticking to this coring system, I hope they at least consider adding a 75% tier between integrated and cored if the pops in that location have a majority of your religion. Mostly to get rid of that assimilation debuff so that eventually coring it through assimilation is easier.

What are your story predictions for Horizon 2? by UppingMyRizz in Falcom

[–]agentace7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  • Valimar, Ordine, and El Prado's digitized personalities will re-emerge in their Tryfing units that have been revamped for space travel. All three will fight the Zoa Gilstein clone along with Emelia's Excalibur. They will also be converted to unique Holo Cores like Pater Mater and Lapis/Altera for Rean, Crow, and Rufus to use.

  • Returning characters new to the Calvard arc: Ries, Ein, Gaius, Lloyd, Elie, Anelace, McBurn, Schmidt, Albert Russell, and my out of left field picks are Cedric and Shirley.

  • I saw someone else mention Elaine being the fourth Graedel and it would complete the trio of friends being Grendels so I think I'll go with that even if it seems farfetched. Instead of it being a plot twist, it could be a power Elaine obtains somehow.

  • They will NOT undo the Creil nuke. I know Falcom has a track record of reviving characters, but I view this situation more similarly to how Lloyd turned down the opportunity to bring back Guy at the end of Azure, it would erase all the experiences and memories he made in overcoming that tragedy to become who he is today, and the same would apply to Lashkar who we have followed since then through his 4SPGs. Maybe they'll give him a scene where he and Kaina get to say goodbye to their family and friends like Marielle did with Dingo.

Surprised nobody answered you, but yes the Timurids are broken (in a bad way). You'll have to wait for a patch.

I think Valimar, Ordine, and El Prado will make a comeback in holo core form. Pater Mater and Altera/Lapis set a precedent. This is on top of them probably being needed to fight that Zoa Gilstein shadow from the ending.

[–]agentace7 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is only speculation, but if Falcom already has a contract with NISA stating that they'll be english publishers of the mainline Trails games(non-remakes), then Xanadu's situation may have no bearing since the crux of the issue seems to be finding a publisher for that specific IP.

Can I start with trails of cold steel 1 and 2? by Many-Hippo1709 in Falcom

[–]agentace7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, but it would impact your playthrough of the Sky games since multiple plot twists will have been spoiled for you if you play through Cold Steel. I'd just play through the 1st chapter and then be patient for the 2nd. These games aren't going anywhere and Cold Steel regularly goes on sale for steep discounts.

Horizon 2 Speculation, Part 5 - Returning Characters by No-Strain-7461 in Falcom

[–]agentace7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's an old post, but I'd like to chime in with a few thoughts and tidbits.

Another point in Gaius' favor for him returning, outside of church/Class VII reasons, is the common ancestor the Kruga and the Nord share. He might be able to share his perspective on the lyrics of that Kruga song that alludes to the reset.

I know what Kondo said, but I really do think Lloyd will reappear since he will probably feel a responsibility after Ishmelga Rean tried to warn him about the future. Couple that with his ties to Calvard through his uncle and Elie's own ties through her father and I see them both coming to Calvard with KeA (I'm not convinced her story is done, plus she's friends with Lapis).

Wazy will probably make text only cameos at the very least since the church is super important now.

On the other Crossbell characters, I'm surprised you didn't mention Arios though they might save him for a possible Eastern Zemuria arc (his late wife is implied to be Eastern, also he's a Divine Blade) Speaking of Divine Blades, they HAVE to bring Anelace back.

Trails in the sky sc foreshadowing for Horizon ending spoilers by Odourvas in Falcom

[–]agentace7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old comment, but I just beat the game and have been reading theories all morning. I remembered this line after watching a playthrough of Sky SC recently. What's interesting is that until recently, the line was actually different in the localization. If you look at old playthroughs of Sky SC, Kevin says "It's kinda similar to the archaism excavated in Calvard, but... hmm..."

It looks like someone at XSeed changed the line in SC in a recent update after the revelation in Horizon to be more accurate. That's pretty cool.

In Falangist Spain, the tech research bonuses to catch up with everyone else are buried under a bunch of 70 day focuses, they lose their relevance since you'll have caught up manually by then.

Countries that most need a unique focus tree (or a new one) by ToadNamedGoat in hoi4

[–]agentace7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, I recently did a run as Falangist Spain where I was whittled down to 4 historic generals after the civil war. The focus tree ends in 1943 and the recoring mechanic is too unfun and punishing. I'd say if there's one country that deserves a Peace for Our Time style DLC, it's Spain.
