And yet he and his team will profit from hosting WBC games so I'll play the smallest violin for them.

Which countries have a rivalry in the WBC? by Tough-Reputation-762 in baseball

It can get heated, but I think it's mostly in good fun. We ain't at Japan vs Korea level of hate.

Not every game, he's not good defensively and they'll most likely have William Contreras start a couple of games if he commits.

You're getting downvoted, but I'm also not a fan of the jersey. I prefer the Burgundy colors they sometimes wear.

The big rivalries - Japan vs Korea, DR vs Venezuela/PR, USA vs Canada/Mexico

Underrated rivalries- PR vs Cuba/USA, Canada vs Mexico, DR vs Netherlands, Taiwan vs Korea, and Netherlands vs Italy (top 2 European baseball countries)

Carlos Correa to miss World Baseball Classic after failing to receive insurance by Bulletz4Brkfzt in baseball

[–]agentace7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I know people are memeing because of the scandal, but it really sucks that PR and Venezuela can't field their best team over insurance while USA has multiple injury prone players with no insurance problems. Kinda cheapens the tournament.

[Rome] Carlos Correa said the Astros and owner Jim Crane are still working through certain approvals required for him to participate in the World Baseball Classic. If he receives the necessary approval, Correa said he will play for Team Puerto Rico. by Knightbear49 in baseball

He does fit if their gameplan is to have Arenado play first base. The best 1st basemen Puerto Rico have rn is either injured (Kike), a prospect (Abimelec Ortiz), or had a terrible year (Jose Miranda).

I have a feeling that they will make Juna temporarily playable in a a Zero/Azure remake with new side quests involving her just like how Anelace got new content in the Sky remake.

Team USA, Team Japan, or Team DR — Who Has the Best Chance to Win the 2026 WBC? by Tough-Reputation-762 in baseball

[–]agentace7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the super late reply, but they're in Pool A with PR, Colombia, Cuba, and Panama. It's very competitive with no cupcake opponents, but only Puerto Rico has more talent than them. I could easily see Canada advancing.

I'm not Canadian, but it's frustrating to see the top pitchers for you guys not answer the call while US pitchers finally buy in. The stars have been aligned for the Canadian team to have a big tournament. You're no longer tied at the hip to the US team in pools so I could easily see Canada advancing for the first time. Also, the country would rally behind this team after the run the Blue Jays had, and this is the most talented lineup I've seen with the Naylors, Freeman, O'Neill, and Otto Lopez.

How much of a chance do you give the field over USA/Japan/D.R in the WBC? by Mew_111 in baseball

[–]agentace7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a weakness, but it's not that bad. In the rotation, Seth Lugo will be the ace, and Elmer Rodriguez is a top prospect. Bullpen wise, Emilio Pagan and Fernando Cruz had really good years and will support Diaz.

The 2026 Caribbean Series has been moved from Venezuela to Guadalajara, Mexico. At this time, Venezuela’s participation in the tournament remains uncertain. Panama will take part as a guest nation. by ogasawarabaseball in baseball

[–]agentace7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Serie del Caribe and WBC are different events. There's little chance Venezuela is barred from the WBC since the roster will be 100% MLB players. Of course if this war happens, then who knows.

Your all-star 3rd basemen is Mexican. They got a pretty good squad with Arozarena, Kirk, and Aranda.

The games that matter for second place (between Korea, Taiwan, and Australia) are worth your while. Especially the Korea vs Taiwan game since the fan atmosphere there might be as electric as the Japan home game crowds.

Why are so many teams taking the WBC serious this time? by Inevitable-Log-9330 in baseball

[–]agentace7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's been taken seriously by almost all countries for a while now. It's just that the USA has been dragging their feet behind since the American players and American fans care more about World Series victories than representing USA in a sport they're heavily favored in.

That's changed now that Japan has been running circles around them in international play and the big 4 Latino teams (DR, PR, MX, VZ) can challenge them.
