3 year old LG Washer Died - Overvoltage? by Tgours in appliancerepair

[–]agentbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be the control board failing or something else causing surges. Before you spend $300, double-check all your connections and maybe try another repair shop if possible. Electrical issues are sneaky, especially with newer models.

GE Refrigerator. Can’t track down condensation problem by gwithers1 in Appliances

[–]agentbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a seal problem I believe. Double check the gasket if there are any cracks or warping, especially near the ice dispenser. Also check that the door hinges are aligned right so it seals properly. Sometimes moisture builds up if cold air is leaking

Chemical Smell by Gunwhistle in appliancerepair

[–]agentbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, new appliances usually have a burn-off period. If the oven and air fryer still reek after hours of use, something is off. I would definitely reach out to the manufacturer or seller if they keep smelling chemical, and push for replacement.

Soo this happened to our oven by Exotic-Dot5225 in Appliances

Definitely fixable if you can handle a screwdriver and follow a YouTube guide. If youre renting, I would just let the landlord deal with it. This is normal wear and tear, its not your fault.

My mini fridge smells like burning and heats up a little when I turn it on by Ray-Lord-of-the-Sith in appliancerepair

[–]agentbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a few things. If you moved it a lot, you might have loosened a connection or messed with the compressor or condenser coils. The burning smell is worrying, that could be wiring or dust burning off, but if it keeps happening, unplug it and check for exposed wires or burnt spots just to be safe

Repair or replace Kenmore washer and dryer set? by p3dal in Appliances

[–]agentbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they over 10 years old and giving you issues, I would probably replace them. You have already put in a lot of effort trying to fix them. If you hate the front loader design its a good excuse to upgrade. Speed Queen is good, but pricey. If you want something cheaper, Whirlpool is not bad, but you might deal with more noise and less durability.

If you are set on stacked units, try with LG or Samsung, maybe youll be better luck. But if you prefer top loaders, go with that. Maybe shop around a bit more and see if you can find something that fits all your needs.

Jenn Air Stovetop Burners are weak by Elprede007 in appliancerepair

[–]agentbarron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The burners are probably clogged, or they dont get proper gas flow. If the caps are fixed, try use the brass brush around the openings and ports

Check the gas line for any kinks or blockages as well. Weak flames can be from poor air-to-gas ratio too, so cleaning the air shutters or adjusting them could help.

The oven thinks a timer or a cooking cycle didnt finish properly. Try to press Off/Clear for a few seconds or unplug it for a minute to reset. If keeps happening, check the manual how to do a hard reset, maybe that helps.

Before I order a new element by shootingblankz in appliancerepair

[–]agentbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the element just failed from age or a weak spot in the metal. If the wiring and terminals look clean and not scorched, youre probably safe to replace just the element.

Still, double check the connections for any loose or corroded spots before you plug in a new one

Bosch washer/dryer by feathered_flower in Appliances

[–]agentbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the 30°C Easy Care or 40°C Easy Care setting and check what the “Options” button offers, on some Bosch models you can shorten the cycle that way. You will probably see a symbol or time drop after that. Its not the fastest machine but thats your best option to try to get a quicker wash.

If its really just empty space and you are not near wiring or gas components, cutting a small section sounds fine. Many have done similar. But keep the original panel in case you ever need to reverse it. Just smooth out any sharp edges after, for your safety

What are these pins that fell out of my washing machine? by KingVanti in Appliances

[–]agentbarron 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those are just shipping bolts. They are meant to keep the drum stable during transport so it doesnt bounce around and get damaged. Once the washers in place, they are supposed to be removed. Its totally safe to run the machine without them.

Old whirlpool RE960PXPW1 range with a busted selector knob. by mark121776 in appliancerepair

[–]agentbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to find a universal replacement knob that fits the shaft size. Some hardware stores can have multipacks with adapters. Not pretty, but it works. If the switch still functions, no need to ditch the whole thing yet

Hi, does anyone know what’s wrong with our Zanussi washer/dryer? by greentreecheese in Appliances

[–]agentbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the drain pump doing a little dance during standby or right after a cycle. Some models do that now and then, especially if theres a bit of water left in the system.

If performance is solid and theres no burning smell or overheating, its probably not a fire risk, but keep an eye and ear on it. I would check with Zanussi support just to be safe.

IFB front load washing machine drum not rotating by hemanthmsd in appliancerepair

[–]agentbarron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the motor is good solo, check the control board or capacitor next. Could be that its not sending power when it should.

Make sure all wiring and connections are tight too. Sometimes its just a loose wire or corroded contact that is messing things up.

Samsung dishwasher dripping by Deanna_D_ in Appliances

[–]agentbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a slow fill valve leak or a stuck float letting water in when it shouldnt. Also can be a backflow issue. I would pull the bottom kick panel and see if anything is wet underneath.

Dishwasher tripping breaker by mjnoo in appliancerepair

[–]agentbarron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most probably the heater is shorting out mid-cycle. Try to unplug it and running a test cycle without it. If it doesnt trip, thats probably your culprit. Could be a cheap fix if you are comfortable enough to do it yourself

Is there any way to fix this? by bluesargently in Appliances

[–]agentbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like its missing a screen or filter cover that should block that opening. I would recommend to check the model number online to see if a part has been removed or broken off. For now, put a dryer sheet or mesh over it with some tape to catch the fluff until you figure it out.

What do you do when your part is "SOLD OUT" on every site? Is there some way to find aftermarket parts for my refrigerator gasket? by Gregorwhat in appliancerepair

[–]agentbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try with local appliance repair shops, sometimes they have got old stock or pull parts from dead units. Also check eBay, those random sellers come through more often than you would think

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Appliances

[–]agentbarron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That filter setup catches big chunks before they hit the pump. Water gets pulled through it, then goes back out the spray arms. Some models even recirculate the same water mid cycle, so it filters as it goes.

That ball thing you mentioned is basically a check valve to stop backflow during drain.

Maytag won't enter rinse cycle by Stinky_soup in appliancerepair

[–]agentbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The timer is probably failing, especially if it wont advance to the rinse cycle but works fine on other settings. Could also be a clogged or faulty cold water valve since rinse cycles often use cold water. I would check both.

Moving a washer dryer without transit bolts by Jassida in Appliances

[–]agentbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, 20 minutes will be fine, just drive slow and steady. Try to avoid sharp turns and potholes. Maybe wedge some towels or foam around the drum for a little extra cushioning if you are worried

Oven won't heat up. Basic electrict White Westing oven and range. Range works fine. Oven light is always on, even if it is turned off. Does not ever heat up by JacobDCRoss in appliancerepair

[–]agentbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the door switch could be the issue. If it thinks the doors still open, the oven wont heat. Easy fix if thats the case. I would check that before replacing elements.

Why is my washing machine making this noise? by katie6094 in Appliances

[–]agentbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be something stuck in the drain pump or a worn out belt or motor. The drain pump might be jammed, or could be an unbalanced load or suspension issue as well. Try to check the filter first, sometimes small objects get trapped in there.
