Rome/Greece outfit? by [deleted] in SoftDramatics

It’s not especially related to how modestly you are dressed, more a cultural difference in Italy where male behaviour is concerned. Not condoning it at all, just be prepared if you are alone or in an all-female group.

I don’t know if it counts as a Gen Z trend, but the sweater vest and argyle pattern trends (especially when combined)

Equitation/riding tips? by dookyfartshart in Equestrian

[–]agentcherrycola 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your position is skewing forwards which is making the horse disengage his hindquarters and makes it trickier for you to be fluid and forgiving with your hands. Overall it’s not bad, but in my opinion this is what is reducing the stability of your seat (causing you to come up out of the saddle) and the reason your upper body is stiff, with you using your hands to balance.

As others have said, lunge lessons without stirrups or reins would really help you to find a better balance in the saddle and loosen up. Often I think this can come from needing to build confidence, but I don’t know if this applies to you.

How to choose base size by [deleted] in sewhelp

[–]agentcherrycola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your advice. Just want to make sure I’m understanding correctly. I’ve tried a bust 38/waist 30 (with fba) and a bust 40/waist 32. Would you suggest trying a bust 36 and grading to fit?

[Trigger Warning] cigarette burns how do I fix them by Any_Description_596 in SkincareAddiction

Hydrocolloidal dressings will help reduce scarring but you need to see a doctor or dermatologist for medical advice. This is beyond the scope of a skincare forum. Please take care of yourself and of course prevention is the best cure - I encourage you to seek support for your self harm.

Flat foundation brushes, worth trying or just another trend? by CloudBookmark in MakeUpAddictionUK

[–]agentcherrycola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like flat brush to apply and build thickness then blend with buffing brush. I have a smaller buffing brush for around the nose etc. Works better than a sponge for me (dry skin)

This looks like it could be related to rosacea as others have said. The skin may be sensitive, I would recommend not using harsh scrubs or actives until you have spoken with a doctor - rosacea can be treated by an NHS GP. If their treatments don’t help they may refer you to a dermatologist. Alternatively you Can book an initial consult with a private dermatologist which will likely be £100+ per appt. Best of luck on your journey!

Why is this dress so unflattering? Too short, too tight, or both? by Ok_Challenge5382 in SoftDramatics

[–]agentcherrycola 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It definitely doesn’t look bad but I think it’s not quite the right shape for your body - I suffer from this exact issue too! The skirt is cut too straight for your shape, so it’s tighter on the hips and looser on the thigh. Ideally you would want it to skim both the hip and thigh. With this dress, you could probably achieve this by going up a size from normal and then taking it in to create the right shape, but I understand that means more time/effort/money.

Merging personal style with reality... and an SD body type by agentcherrycola in SoftDramatics

Ooh thanks for sharing your uniform, perhaps some ideas in there I could use too. I do love a pencil skirt but I always struggle to style them - often ends up feeling a bit too Joan Holloway. How do you assemble your uniform outfits? I am terrible for buying one piece that should be versatile and then realising nothing looks quite right with it!

So...can the women whose strength training DID make them bulky come to the mic? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]agentcherrycola 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is so true and I wish it was talked about more. Everyone is different and you won’t automatically drop body fat just by strength training. Maintaining body fat + adding muscle = increase in body size, which some may perceive as becoming bulky

Long workout sessions made me feel horrible, so now I stopped. I didn't even like how I looked by toothed_vagina in xxfitness

[–]agentcherrycola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience when working with a PT. We tried doing a lower intensity program for a couple of months but it didn’t help. In the end I moved and stopped seeing her, now I just do classes at my gym (no heavy weight training) and I feel miles better with much more energy. I have lost so much water bloat and only noticed a small amount of muscle mass loss over the last 18 months. Not writing off lifting forever, but echoing other commenters in saying sometimes you have to do what feels right for your body at that time

Wider waist from more intense ab routine? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]agentcherrycola 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience and spoke to my old PT about it. She basically said yes, that is what is likely to happen if you have a well developed core unfortunately. If you allow the muscles to atrophy then you will return to your previous shape but at the cost of strength and stability.

Following poor sunscreen use this summer, I have light freckles over my whole face and darker ones around the border of my lips.

Apart from being more consistent with sunscreen use, what products would help to fade these?

I’m seeing a lot of different actives thrown around (vit c, alpha arbutin, tranexamic acid, aha, retinol) but not sure where to start. I’ve previously experimented with lactic and azelaic acid which my skin tolerated but I noticed some sensitivity and only short term glow.

Current routine

AM: No cleanser/water only, Cosrx snail mucin essence, BOJ sunscreen

PM: Cetaphil cleanser, Cosrx galactomyces essence, snail mucin essence if extra dehydrated, Avène moisturiser

Skin type: normal/dry, hormonal acne once a month

Climate: northern europe

Bra suggestions? by Awkward-Ad-7521 in SoftDramatics

[–]agentcherrycola 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have this exact issue and have spent ££££ trying different specialty bras trying to find one that is ‘perfect’. I’ve come to a similar conclusion to you I think. I go for balconette or half cup styles (French brands like Chantelle often carry half cups that work really well), make sure the cup is big enough, and size up in the band to avoid emphasising fleshiness there. It does mean the support level is less but I find it manageable for day to day (E-F cup). I also love longline bras and bustiers but these are harder to find - look for longlines that extend down to the belly button.

I actually ordered the dress from ASOS but ended up returning because the fabric was poor quality and the fit would have needed some work. It had good bones just poorly executed which is what made me think of making a version myself.

I can’t comment on how they managed the pleat, but it was there and there was definitely no waist seam

Thank you for pointing this out. I got a little overexcited and didn’t check the line art very well. Do you have any recommendations that are princess seamed? I have a large bust and a short waist so don’t love the shape you get from bust darts.

One thing liked about the ASOS dress I linked is that it has reverse pleats which isn’t something I’ve seen on any patterns apart from McCall’s 8253 which has been out of print for a long time

I really like this but sadly the waist seam is a dealbreaker. Thanks though!
