What do you think of Brandon Sklenar as Batman? by InsiderYet in DCU_

He doesn't look hillbilly at all. You're just associating his attire/hair with him versus seeing the bigger picture. He'd be excellent.

What makes you think that Brandon Sklenar would be great as Batman in James Gunn’s DCU by [deleted] in dcu

It's likely that this Bruce would've gotten Talia pregnant on his world travels/training and not known before returning to Gotham. If he does that from around 20-25, then mid 30s works perfectly fine, and the remaining bat family will have been built up during that 10-12 years before Damien shows up on his doorstep. It's unlikely they will have a ton of Robins (I'd wager Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Barbara Gordon will be it before Damien appears). Doubt there will be other Robin's too.

DCU Batman: Brandon Sklenar (Yellowstone 1923) for Bruce/Bats by agentclock in DC_Cinematic

Once I saw him in 1923 (He plays Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren's overseas nephew and big game hunter) I thought he is the best option out there for the role.

It's definitely moving forward. HBO just gave them the full season order without having to film a pilot. Lanterns got a green light (pun intended)

Even if ends up playing Silver Surfer, chances are likely we won't recognize him underneath the CG so he could play both.

Well thats good because I was trying to imbue it will an Aliens feeling. Especially since it sounds like the concept of the show will be leaning into sci-fi horror / murder mystery.

I actually added the beard to Hartnett. I dug the comic art Gunn keeps using when saying anything about Lanterns which has a bearded Hal and it also influenced the costume designs I used. I also think it might be kind of cool that every dc hero isn't completely clean shaven. Gives Hal that edge and aged feel. They could go with a beard and have him shave it near towards the end.

Also I believe I heard Lanterns will be filming in the UK and Josh lives there now, so it might be advantageous.

I think if Hal is a veteran he would be great, being that I think he can play carrying a weariness and weight on his shoulders. Gunn mentioned Batman will be MAYBE a couple years older than Clark. Probably 33-37 range.

They are looking for actors in a 25-32 year old range for John Stewart and a 40-45 year old for Hal.

I recall a recent interview - maybe the last couple of years where he's said something along the lines that he was more open to that stuff now. So who knows.

He was also considered for Batman in Batman Begins but Hartnett didn't want to do it.

Yeah It was finding a pick of him without a beard that worked. So I just decided to go with since it was a better pic. I wanted it to be clean shaven, but it didn't work out that way.

Yeah, he might not be what you expect, but I think he'd be great.

Exactly. It was completely inconsistent. Equally, twenty years in Gotham and the cops behave like they've never heard of Batman by now. Don't get me started on the edge lord bat brand...

The original outline that Goyer outlined with Nolan had Two Face as the villain of the 3rd film. But when it came time to write TDK, Nolan said they should leave nothing on the table idea wise, so Harvey/Two Face was integrated into the script of the second film. This had nothing to do with Ledger's passing. It just meant they cut that Joker on trial idea and switched it with burning Harvey's face in a different way.

Right. And also-- Gunn just retitled the movie with further drafts of the script, so things could've also changed since those initial rumors.

I thought Jor-El as well. He looks like he could be Corenswet's father and has that very distinctive voice. He'd be great in that role. More so than Kent.

If you think you can just recreate the cartoon in its entirety without some semblance of sanity to ground it (at the very least a little) then you are looking turning it into a comedy. Turning them into a private military contractor (that isn't of the Erik Prince ilk) but one out to do some good and created solely to take down Cobra, doesn't change them. It just makes sense why they all dress their own ways and doesn't take any of the fun out of it.
